I saw a stat earlier saying he made the 2nd most carries in the Prem at the weekend, you also look at his passing stats, his passing percentage was the highest of our centre backs last season, a lot of sideways & backward passes probably count towards that, his long passing ability though was at 80%, compared with Evans & Soyuncu at 58%.

 

Don’t get the wrong idea that I’m fawning over Big Dan, but if you weigh certain things up, I can understand why Rodgers is currently persisting with him, especially with Fofana not playing the last two games and on the brink of being sold.

 

As I said on here at the weekend, ideally we need to find a progressive defender, someone who can carry the ball up the pitch, someone who fits the mould like Fofana and someone who isn’t clumsy like Big Dan.

 

Loic Bade could well be that guy.

I think you're right on the money there. People forget we signed Amartey as a DM originally, who was somewhat known for progressing the ball forwards, if I remember correctly. It's not his technical ability that concerns me about Big Dan, it's more his awareness and anticipation.

 

I don't really know much about Bade though. I actually think I got him confused with a winger called Bade who was/is at Monaco, at first.

I think it's more two things out together than a single sentence 😅

 

He can carry the ball forward

He sometimes plays as a CB

 

This does not mean he is a ball-carrying CB, which perhaps Rodgers isn't quite getting...

All you need to do is look at his stats from the start of this season to know I’m not talking shit.

 

He is currently averaging 5.95 carries per90, those are Fofana type numbers when it comes to ball carries, in terms of current starting CB’s in the Prem, Amartey ranks as one of the highest in terms of ball carries per90.

 

As I said in my post, he made the 2nd most carries in the Prem at the weekend, the proof of Daniel Amartey being deployed as a ball carrying centre back is there in black and white.

I read back my comment and wasn’t a dig just crazy how clumsy he is whilst doing it.

 

Shows how poor the ball playing CB’s are in the Prem rather than calling out your stat mate.

 

I’m just so done with this season already.

I'd prefer if he stopped carrying the ball and started ****ing defending.

A CB can carry the ball into midfield but he then has to do something with it 

 

amarteys pass to perez late in was good

 

in other games he tends to break forward and then make a fairly square pass to one of the full backs

 

there is also the fact opposition players often seem happy for him to have the ball and break beyond the half way line and lay a trap that his pass will be intercepted

Bade was a big disappointment for Rennes last season.  At Lens, he had just had a good season in a 3-man defense, but he did not adapt to a 4-man defense. Even after his injury, he no longer played, replaced by a young man from the training center  , Omari.  A game this season, inconclusive.  Very average raise, not very impactful in duels, often goes through balls in depth.  But he leaves the locker room clean, in that sense it would be a bonus for you!😉 Now in Rennes we have such problems in central defense with Theate and Joe Rodon (Omari is injured, Aguerd is gone) that I don't know  if we can let him go, unless we have another solution (some talk about Denayer)

Vesty would be ideal for you. It would kill us to lose him though.

He carries the ball from out the back of the net quite well.
