He was booed onto the pitch when he came on as sub in the first game of the season. I can't stand the guy, but I'd struggle to make a case for that being justified.

It was just carried over from the last game, Bournemouth away at the end of the last PL season he was booed every time he had the ball (correctly). People don't just forget and not everyone is willing to give a "clean slate" to everyone, every season.

I've seen some poor takes.....

If memory serves we went on a long streak without conceding early in his time at the club.

Got spanked by Spurs but I think we went on a 7 or 8 game run without conceding, with Faes in defence and Ward in goal

Obviously people won't forget and neither should they. I just don't see how booing or mocking (eg McCarthy on Tuesday) a player during a game is supposed to help the team. Those who do it tend to justify it by saying they have a 'right' to express their views, which they do, but I always wonder what benefit they think it brings when done while the players are on the pitch trying to win a game.

McCarthy I would tend to agree, he's shit but I don't think he deserves to be booed onto the pitch.

Others though deserved exactly what they got. They're all gone now anyway so hopefully it's something that won't be a factor moving forward.

Faes was pretty good initially. ChatGPT so usual caveats etc

So his opening 10 were 6 wins, 1 draw, 3 defeats, with 7 clean sheets and 9 goals conceded.

My kids made up this song about him a couple of years ago (to the tune of Lord of the Dance):

Faes, Faes where ever you may be

Please don’t pass to the other team

We love you, your hair is a dream

But please don’t pass to the other team

I wouldnt assume those people were unaware that booing their own player wouldnt benefit anything.

How much damage would that do to the U21s? You want to coach there attitude as much as anything, having unwanted players from the first team squad dumped in with them would not help that.

This is a very good point. Make him train alone then, although that's probably a breach of contract.

During that weird period pre Qatar World Cup where Ward actually had a couple of good games (Everton and Wolves away spring to mind)

He was excellent when we first signed him, his decline happened under our roundabout of managers who couldn't organise a defence.

I feel he thinks hes got cover both our defence and midfield because both were poor.

Literally conceded 6 on his debut.

It was just a purple patch but I thought for a long term Faes just wasn’t as bad as he was performing. Mugged by reality though with goals like WBA A last season, completely amateurish.

I think the attitude thing is overblown though, he cupped his ear at our fans, hardly refusing to play or anything of that ilk. If he had a skin fade instead of his clown hair he gets slightly less heat.

I'm sure he'd accept a contract termination paid upto the end of December.

He's surplus to requirements and both parties need to move on.

The minute you start having a go at the fans you’re finished.

He's literally doing that now
