So the minutes silence for Celtics game against St.Mirren was changed to a minutes applause because they knew no-one would respect it.

...Come time to do the applause and the unveil a "if you hate the royal family clap your hands" banner.

I despise Celtic but you have to admire their adaptability.

Can't believe the media are still finding stuff to talk about on the subject of the Queen, some of the absolute guff they've managed to talk about in the past week and a half to fill airtime is truly remarkable.

I don’t get how anyone can twist their jocks over the anti-monarchy rhetoric that teams like Celtic have displayed. You like the monarchy, they don’t. Who cares. No skin off your back at all. People act like it’s some form of discrimination.

I thought this earlier. It’s not even shocking, it was always going to happen.

It’s not as if it’s for nothing either. A very complicated and historic sticking point for many. Everyone dying to be offended by anything anti monarchy. It’s treated like a hate crime.

Must be the only country in the world where you can get away with having had a 18 year old boyfriend for 6 years yet get ripped to shreds for queue jumping.

If the Queen was looking below us now, would she think that this coverage is a bit of out over the top (despite her importance to the country)?

It's not their political views, it's the way they disrespect other people's right to pay their respects.

Is there anyone here who would not think it more than a bit off if they attended a funeral or memorial service or solemn act of remembrance, and someone started singing "he's in a box" because they didn't like their political views?

When I said "a funeral or memorial service or solemn act of remembrance", I didn't mean it only applied to funerals.  I was including memorial services and solemn acts of remembrance as well.  I'm sorry if that wasn't clear to you.

Way I see it is people are welcome to be pissed off at the monarchy for the acts committed in its name over the years.

And people likewise are welcome to be pissed off at those people for bringing it to the fore at this particular time due to them thinking it's a bit bad taste.

Either way, people should be free to express their views on the matter.

Most Leicester City fans remember the value of standing in silence in respect for those who have died.  Few of your friends would agree that singing "he's in a box" would have been fair comment at the event we both remember.

I agree.

However, I would go no further than pointing out that it isn't in good taste.
