Mike1983 Posted 4 December 2024 Posted 4 December 2024 He hasn’t been great for us this season, he’s inconsistent and prone to calamities. But let’s be honest, we know he’s good enough for this level if he finds his form and applies himself. There’s a clear pattern of scapegoating on this forum, and it looks like he might be the latest in a long line. I really wish the admins would address this, it’s just far too much unnecessary negativity if left to run wild. 3

A number of Belgium players seem to have a weird mentality. He might be alright in a better team but he's too exposed at Leicester, we need a player who is going to leave it all out there, it's not him. He's not been good enough, and hasn't applied himself whether that's a manager issue or a mentality issue, I don't know, but currently he should not be starting. The defence instantly became worse when he came on last night. You think the admin should moderate general consensus/opinion on an Internet forum design for debate where it does agree with your personal opinions?! I'd say that's censorship...maybe give ones head a wobble. 4
Popular Post The boy Linacre Posted 4 December 2024 Popular Post Posted 4 December 2024 I just think he thinks he's better than he is. Knuckle down, be part of a unit that keeps the ball out of the net on a number of occasions and then you can big yourself up. Last night West Ham were probably the better side BUT Coady and Jannik not a massively common partnership put a REAL in shift in along with Wilf and Soumare, we were heading for a clean sheet which was also a massive result. Sadly that didn't happen. Just do your job Wout without blaming others and being caught out repeatedly and then the fans will get behind you FULLY. 12

Not what you want from a CB. The complete opposite of a Wes Morgan. 3

Well...to be honest...I've watched him over 40 times for us in the Premier League now, and I have no idea how you've come to this conclusion. We don't know if he's good enough for this level at all. Teams sat back against us last year and he still managed to look shaky during the few attacks we did face. He's really not very good. 3
TheGoldenGod Posted 4 December 2024 Posted 4 December 2024 It royally irked me when he was trying to dribble through 3 players at the end and almost got punished for it....HE JUST CAN'T HELP HIMSELF CAN HE?!?!? Way too much of a liability and has no discipline to just mop up and do his job. 2
Sol thewall Bamba Posted 4 December 2024 Posted 4 December 2024 (edited) I think he'll be put out to pasture relatively quickly. Okoli and Vestegaard I feel will be out partnership until January and then someone new will come in. Edited 4 December 2024 by Sol thewall Bamba 4
Bluearmyfox28 Posted 4 December 2024 Posted 4 December 2024 Always disliked Wout for the simple reason of he always appears to highlight his centre back partners downfalls when they make a mistake. The amount of times I’ve seen him get on a players back rather than encourage them is insane. Sign of a poor teammate who thinks he’s better than the rest. 3

Okoli LCB (where he’s best and comfortable), VK the outlet and JV comes central where he can play good passes. Justin helped by a runner (McAteer) Looks good
5waller5 Posted 4 December 2024 Posted 4 December 2024 He attacks the ball really well, makes loads of interceptions, but if it doesn’t come off then he gets rolled and he’s the last man… so it becomes a chance. He’s also reasonably tidy on the ball but as a CB gets concerted pressure and sometimes robbed of possession, again leading to a chance. I think he needs someone covering him, and that’s not always possible at CB…. So… would he not make a decent CDM??? Blood and thunder run around winning the ball back and laying it off??

Scored a brace at Anfield too remember.
StanSP Posted 4 December 2024 Posted 4 December 2024 He got the assist-assist for Daka's goal But yeah, he's shit. Get the fvcker gone in January. I won't even be fussed if he goes on to be good at a different club. He's no use here.

He's consistently bad. He has moments of looking great - whether it's a long pass or a good tackle but ultimately his postioning is horrendous and makes brain dead decisions. He must be a nightmare to partner with. Hopefully other teams take notice of the brief moments of good play and make us a good offer. Then bomb him out ASAP.
MancFox24 Posted 4 December 2024 Posted 4 December 2024 He showed the good and bad sides to his game in that cameo last night. Made some really useful interceptions to stop attacks before they got going, which we were lacking with Vestegaard on the pitch. Stayed calm on the ball in the build up to third goal. But as always threw in a mistake at the end that almost cost us. I've defended him alot on here cus I still think there's a top player there but unless he cuts out those errors he has to stay out of the team
Lewis's Junior Posted 4 December 2024 Posted 4 December 2024 Can't agree that he's good enough at this level. He has some characteristics that make him look adequate in patches. But look at his overall body of work; he's far too often caught out of position, dives in when its too risky, or is just too casual in dangerous situations (backing off until there was a nice angle to score vs Plymouth last season particularly stands out). He's not some 22 year old, he'll be 27 by the end of the season. If he hasn't ironed those things out now, you've got to doubt it'll happen. 1
RowlattsFox Posted 4 December 2024 Posted 4 December 2024 Faes is now in a position that no-one remembers the good bits, but everyone remembers every mistake (admittedly that's because they tend to lead to goals) There was a pretty crucial bit of defending just after West Ham scored. He's just not the kind of defender you can rely on when you are under pressure, especially when as a team we allow opposition so many attempts at goal. If we get a reasonable bid in Jan then its the right time to sell and hopefully re-invest in a better option and long term partner for Okoli. 2

Whilst I don't agree on Faes I know what you mean about negativity spirals and players being targeted at certain times. However, I don't really see how the mods can do much or that they actually should. Ultimately like any social media there is a cess pit element and, unless there is actual criminality, that's something you have to live with. Compared to wider social media, which I've long since fvcked off, it's pretty tame here and a lot of the worst stuff is posted when people's emotions are high (such as the match thread). The ignore function is useful for repeat gimps.

And sometimes you take the rough with the smooth He's a £15m defender. Kilman reportedly went for £40m and Mavropanos for £25m. They aren't leagues ahead of Wout. We literally have what we paid for. He's erratic and there are mistakes in him, but he is capable and always puts a shift in. I also can't remember him getting injured and has made over 100 appearances for us. I agree with his criticism, but i dont like a lot of the hate. Im not sure he is ever going to change and i think no matter what he will be off end of this season. I actually thought the first few games of the season he had stepped up a bit, and i think it was Bournemouth when he got the captains armband for a bit. But he has regressed again. 2
