Well that takes me back to 1962 'ish when the captain was Jimmy Walsh and, being a would-be goalkeeper myself, my favourite player was Gordon Banks.

David Nish, great local talent, class England full back and the youngest captain of an FA cup finalist at the time, not sure if that record still holds from 1969 where, as a 10 year old I cried all the way home! A Man City fan put his arm round me and said, never mind son they’ll be another year, didn’t think it would be 52 of them though!!

1982 and I think John O'Neill was probably captain.

 

Favorite player was the boy Lineker

Captain when I started supporting - Steve Walsh

Similar to me but favourite was Davie Gibson also had a soft spot for Ian king one of out most classy CBs ever.

 

Although I never took much notice of who was Captain, the ref, Manager, Coaches or anyone else other than who was playing.

I started supporting in 1956, I think the captain might have been Matt Gilles or maybe Colin Appleton, certainly had some good players to enjoy then with Arthur Rowley, Derek Hines Howard Riley etc, soon to be followed by Davie Gibson, Mike Stringfellow...good times for me.

I think the club captain was Gary Mills but it was during the season we beat Derby in playoffs (and had loads of injuries) so Simon Grayson was temporary skipper.

 

Favourite player, at the time, was probably Grayson too (everyone else seemed be injured! 😄)
