I liked Praet today but I'd still prefer an actual right winger, where it's there natural position. 

 

Soumare seems to be a bit more settled but I fear against better opposition his weaknesses will be more exposed.

I would go with that for Sunday. Maddison playing central left combines well with barnes. Praet played well with castagne overlapping outside. Youri pulling the strings again.

Would like to see it at some point, KDH certainly isn't undroppable at the minute and looks knackered too, like Tielemans has for spells here and yet is made to play EVERY game.

Against teams outside the top 6 we should be playing Madders as a CAM with 2 wingers. While Praet is not an out an out winger at least he provided us with width and an outlet on the right, rather than everything going down the left like it has in recent games. That in turn gave Barnes more space on the left

Brendan best not switch it up too much! Maddison for KDH only. 

 

Keep Praet on the right for now and lets see if he can build a good connection with Castagne

I don't want to come across as moaning, but was Praet that good tonight?

 

Yes, he was involved in both goals, but also got dispossed quite a bit.

 

I like him and think he deserves his chance. You don't play regularly for a side like Belgium if you're shite.

 

But he isn't all of a sudden the solution to our problems.

 

Hopefully with more football he gets sharper.

KDH isn't quite firing so maybe time to drop. Still not in the slightest impressed with Castagne he's another that needs a rest, going the way of amartey. Good to see praet in and doing well though, hope he'll continue to improve with a run of games. Tielmans just isn't the player he once was. Light weight is an understatement.

Youri was superb tonight, dropping deep and giving the defence options, rather than them just surrendering the ball to the opposition. 

 

Made some important challenges too.

 

Really see a different side of his game when he's in that position. 

 

Would be interesting to see him in that role when Maddison is playing. Could really pick a pass from deep to allow Madders to create something.

I find it odd with some of the criticism of KDH currently. Yes his final product could be improved but his work rate is unreal. He's our engine in midfield. You take him out and you lose the "legs" midfield too. 

 

Footballs a funny old game though. I'd personally drop Soumare for Mendy before taking KDH out the team.

there have been calls to go back to a 4231 with praet on the right since the start of the season. It’s logically the most balanced our squad can be…. but it’s not going to happen

He sprayed a few balls around when no pressure, but under pressure still second best. Wasn't a bad performance, but by no means great. Dunno why but him and Madders never the greatest pairing, maybe because Madders get pushed out wide?  He looks marginally better when he's the main man, but he was a top player, that has become just meh.

Superb? Have standards dropped that low?

I’d have Mendy ahead of Soumare. Praet was good in his positioning today, albeit rusty with the football, but most importantly he allowed more space for Barnes. It’s another option that should be used regularly, KDH needs a rest at times too. There should be plenty of options for Praet this season.

He isn't the solution but he is a decent option. As is Mendy.
