Does Leicester City really need a new goalkeeper?

After Danny Ward's great performances today (and the past couple of weeks of course), I personally do not believe there is any need for the club to look for a new goalkeeper anymore as it was previously rumored and I feel comfortable with Danny Ward as the starting goalkeeper for the club as Schmeichel's true replacement. What do you guys think?

He needed time to build confidence and the rapport with the defence. Now it's built why start again?

Silly thing is, I've not really seen him have much to do for quite some time, so i still don't know how good he is. Even against City he wasn't troubled much from open play. The defense is practically impenetrable right now.

 

I've voted yes just because i still don't trust him, but i understand why the club might not go get another one in the January window.

 

Interestingly, i wonder if his world cup performance might change my mind. I expect him to start now.

if we signed a new keeper for 40 million 7 games ago and he played exactly as Danny had we would all wanking ourselfs to death over him.

Ward took some time to settle and looked poor in a team that was performing very poorly.

 

He's stepped up now though and looks to be PL quality. He doesn't have the shot stopping ability of Kasper but he arguably commands his box better and is better dealing with crosses.

Well I saw a minority (rightfully or wrongfully) have doubts about Ward in recent times on the forum and I was interested to see where they would be standing after a bit of time had past.

Iversen will be the long term replacement. As long as he doesn't get frustrated with lack of first team opportunities.

That's not true. Made a massive save against Calvert-Lewin and I'm sure there has been others. Give credit where its due

7 clean sheets is outstanding in last nine. He has made at least 2 or 3 saves in each match aswell ie Forest and Wolves games, which could easily have been closer.

Ward’s strong recent form and Our injury issues with Ricardo and Justin means this is absolutely not a priority for January. Long term though, it’s too early to say.

He has made some incredible saves in the last couple of games, rapid reactions and strong hands. Quick off his line and good distribution, what's not to like?

He's turned it around and looks commanding. Also shows the reward of consistency and credit to Brendan for sticking to his guns

If we had unlimited budget and ambitions of champions League then yes.

 

If we can only afford to make 1 signing in January it does not need be a goalkeeper. (A few months ago I would have had that as top priority).

We appear to have limited funds and  the immediate priority for new signings has a LB, RW and CB higher up on it than a new goalkeeper.

No, On current form he's upped his game beyond Kasper. His concentration, timing and reading of the game has been first class.

When you couple that with coming off his line and catching or punching high crosses, has relived so much pressure at times.

 

He's had to be patient in waiting for his chance and now he's taking it with both Hands. He just needs to keep it up.

We also have a backup keeper with 2 clean sheets in 2 games and has saved 3 penalties.
