We need to look at what a premier league goalkeeper is these days. Shot stopping, commanding the area, marshalling the defenders and distribution. Ward’s shot stopping has always been decent - he lost and has now regained his confidence on that. My concerns are on the other areas - he is poor under pressure in the air and under the high ball, his distribution is lower quartile and he doesn’t marshall the defence - our clean sheets have been as a result of Faes not Ward.

Overall, a few games ago he was a here and now liability. He is not that now. So short term no need for an immediate replacement but longer term there is I think.

No, On current form he's upped his game beyond Kasper. His concentration, timing and reading of the game has been first class.

When you couple that with coming off his line and catching or punching high crosses, has relived so much pressure at times.

He's had to be patient in waiting for his chance and now he's taking it with both Hands. He just needs to keep it up.

This..

He's becoming not just dependable,.or decent, but outstanding. His reading of dangerous balls into the box is - and I mean this - top top class.

As for those saying he's had no saves to make, how about - as an example - that looping header? 9 times out of 10 with kapser that's in top corner  with Kasper racing out screaming at the red about something

Well done Danny. I've rarely been so pleased to be proved so wrong

Short term no, long term we should be looking to upgrade on Danny Ward.

This is the correct answer.

Iversen will be the long term replacement. As long as he doesn't get frustrated with lack of first team opportunities.

That's why we play him in cups.

We also have a backup keeper with 2 clean sheets in 2 games and has saved 3 penalties.

I liked Iverson against Newport. Brought something different and his distribution was very good. Didn't have much to do otherwise, I know.

I worry about Ward's knee -- I wouldn't be surprised if Iverson plays a few PL games this season.

But I don't think there is an upgrade worth the money, and am happy with the pair of them.

On Ward, I am a humble pie eater.

And...  apparently,   the world's not flat.

I have been very vocally anti Ward all season, I think long term we definitely still need to improve, but I would not be trying to sign one in January, he has gained some confidence and momentum and looks solid and dependable right now.

He has been very good lately, so fair enough to Rodgers for sticking with him when I'd of not even started the season with him let alone persist with him after how dreadful he was. Have you ate any humble pie?

He's done brilliantly lately.  9 hours on the pitch and the only goal conceded was an unstoppable free kick from KDB.

He's in the form of his life and confidence must be sky high.  No need to spend scarce money on players we don't need.

I have to admit I actually though Danny Ward was in the list of top 5 worse keepers that have played for City.

however in last games he has upped his game, has confidence in 5he defence and they have the same in him. He made a save in the first half that was looping into top corner that was a really good stop and looked solid throughout. I am glad I have been wrong about him and hope he continues to play like this.

would I want Kasper back now? No

Unfortunately I would not be surprised if Iversen wanted to leave in January, even if just on loan again

I get the feeling he is someone that wants to be playing regularly rather than sat on the bench

I think probably, but then not as a priority either so I'm happy with him getting the next few. His turnaround is mental.

One of the most incredible turnarounds I've seen.

I think the whole defensive unit in general. Ward clearly didn’t have confidence in them, and the defenders didn’t have confidence in him. Now it’s a big confidence fest, and everyone looks top class.

I think he'll stay til the end of the year at least. The club doesn't want to go looking for a #2 at the moment.

I wouldn't be surprised if he gets some Premier League games in the busy holiday period, sort of like the deal Rodgers made with Ward at the end of last season.

Not surprising he took a while to settle. He hadn’t really had much top flight experience except for his international appearances. Glad he’s doing well, and while he continues to improve I think we’re fine with him and Iversen.

I’d say our success is down to the defence rather than the goalkeeper although he’s done well. Let’s see where we’re at with him at the end of the season.
