By calling it a ‘mistake’ you minimise the fact it was an act carried out intentionally. It wasn’t a mistake.
We’ll also have to disagree about age being a mitigating factor in act like that.
I’ll leave it there.

Fair enough.

Fantastic to hear he's back in full contact training next week, that's something we can all agree on.

I'm sure David Geddes felt the same when eating through a straw.

You have to let it go.

Perhaps the lack of clarity as to the actual punishment apart from the 3 match ban has something to do with it. Good to hear Alves is nearing fitness

Point is they didn't then or since

You're missing the point.

It's the same as the players being sacked post Bangkok orgy, would fans be happy if it had been first team players? Would the club have actually sacked them?

Easy to 'do the right thing' when it doesn't weaken your first eleven.

Well Man U seem to have ended Greenwood's career at the club.

Easier for Man U to sack and replace first team players.

Wonder who will sign Greenwood.

Are you sure about that?! I’ll hold my hand up to posting a ridiculous analogy though 😂

I mean if they come out of they're probably battle-weary and grizzled but going into it they're still kids with little life experience

Anyway, I'd still hurl abuse at the guy if he ever played against us :D

I'm just not a fan of people wanting someone not to be able to live their life forever because they upset them. It's not a healthy mindset imo.

Stupid thug shouldn't even be allowed to play until Alves can again, let alone represent the country.

He meant every inch of what he did and has never properly apologised.

You going to apply that to every player that has injured someone else?

Teams would need squads of 50 players.

Nah, just the ones who commit intentional assault on someone purely for showing a bit of flair and showing them up for the average cloggers they are. That's something I maybe expect from hungover morons in Sunday League, not top tier professionals.

I'll say it again - Caden Voice is a little thug and has no place even being on a football pitch right now, let alone representing the country.

I do understand your point that he is young and learning.

I would say though look at the tackle again. He had clear intent to hit Alves and take him down, shouted at his teammates after for not taking Alves down earlier. And the outcome was he has massively hindered a career of a promising young player. These injuries are so hard to come back from,

Alves will always in the back of his mind have the impact of the tackle and it will change his game. My personal opinion is if you cause injury to another player via a horrible tackle, you are out for the same amount of time.

Toney got banned from betting for months, yet his own club Shirt endorses betting. These kind of tackles are supposed to be stamped out of the game, yet the Wolves player gets a 3 game ban and England called up. Yet the player he intended to make contact with is out for 9 months.

Yes. Mmm No…

Where is that line between malicious, and simply bad timing.

The fan are highly strung in games,off-Field officials will take crowd overreaction into account, there are few angles that give the real perspective on field participants,

spectators or todays camera angles..Sometimes in all team sports a good clattering is safer as the hidden flick of the foot..Its difficult…

I was playing junior club rugby, just started training on invitation Tigers Thursdays

training evening…

But a biggish game…After a scrum I made a break (n08) from the back, played a dummy and took a quick right twist between their scrum half and the scrum and open field, then just before the door completely opened to me my ankle collapsed, with a loud crack and me rolling in my first real, real  pain in sport

( got knocked out once as Gk as the cross bar fell on me,concussion!! didn’t feel that..lol

But..! everybody thought it was oppositions scrum half…my players, his teammates, spectators ref..telling him that lad was a step too far,Red card( first season introduced I think) about to be issued him pleading I am sure I didn’t touch him…I didn’t honest..!…

Well in fact he didn’t ,I twisted badly and injured my ankle and foot on parts I never knew I had..I told the ref, “no it’s true he didn’t touch me,he was a good step away,

(suprising what one sees & feels in those nano seconds),it was that twist n turn that took me over,he didn’t kick me,  player and ref looked relieved, both set of players ,spectators against own player calmed down, his club & players afterwards thanked me for my honesty, only 3 months out. My then GF was rabid and asked why I wasn’t going to hospital,I said In clubhouse I am ok,then collapsed…thankfully after the ladies pie n beans, and a couple of refreshing ginger beer shandies..

Only 2 wks hospital with GF & cousin tut tutting…my first nights..

Not 2years later,my biggest injury that took me completely

out of high performance of any sport, crest-fallen ,first thoughts of no further European tours, but then put me on a defined path of travelling. Though before some Munroes, & cousins traversed and crazy cows and Stier engagements laughingly avoided before..that final PING.

My swollen knees, suddenly didn’t go down after the weekend or competition.

It just shows, what players refs, spectators see from different perspectives, guilty or not guilty actions, sport today is even faster a reaction time for eyes and their angles and can’t give often any notion or motion of truth..Professional football participants including fans use the adrenaline & emotion of the moment, not the facts..

IMO managers at least should take a stand back, and not play that professional wolf. Fans are fans, west terrace, don’t see what the East terrace sees, and both North & South terraces see nothing but growl in unison the action around their own player. The forums then take their natural feed according to which trough is tastier to dip in..

Strange how life/fate works, after coming back from some yrs working Africa etc,one meets a blackforest maedel on an English ferry from Holland, and after actually being held up at gunpoint on a Rotterdam bridge,on the way back to, S.America, put on the ferry by Dutch police ( Friendly but no papers)

My future stars-chosen woman ,would eventually accompany me in building our own travel adventures..& family. Now back in another hospital toss-up what’s next adventure.

Edit - Actually maybe not a career ending but I hope Voice builds his hopes pathetic wee hopes up just to fall down the pyramid, struggling to make ends meet , struggling to pay his rent and put tesco value food on the table while wearing on his mighty Stafford Rangers kit every Saturday by the time he's 25.

With no Yunus, one of Ben Nelson or Wanya Marcal will have to be called up to fill the bench, unless Maresca hands a surprise call-up to Will Alves, who trained with the first team ahead of the game as he finishes his recovery from an ACL tear.

I mean no way he gets on the bench before U21 minutes but that is excellent news!

Wonder if he plays on Friday night for a half with the U21's?

It'll be Wanya for sure!
