Newcastle United and Leicester City are in the picture to sign Real Betis’ Nabil Fekir in the summer, according to Fichajes.net.
the attacking midfielder’s contract expires in 2026 but the La Liga side know they won’t be able to keep him after this season. Therefore, they are open to selling him and have set a €30m asking price.

According to reports in Spain – via Sports Witness – the Magpies are said to be one of a handful of Premier League sides who are interested in the 29-year-old, with both Manchester United and Leicester City also named as potential suitors.

The report suggests that despite the Frenchman having just over three years left to run on his existing deal in Seville, the La Liga side are seemingly aware that they may have to cash in this summer amid the mounting interest, with a fee of around €30m (£26m) having been suggested.

Genuine question - can you name other signings that are similar to how this one would be?

Signing young players with a high ceiling and resellable value is what has made us successful -  Not signing 29 year old journeymen.

I’m not commenting on the player or making judgement I just asked a question!

Please can you name another signing(s) we’ve made that would resemble anything like Fekir?

Slimani,

Vestergaard

Inler

Adrien Silva

Fekir far bigger name than them 4, he’s a World Cup winner. Silva a euros winner tbf.

Vestegaard and inler certainly arent the same as Fekir.

Guess I see where you’re coming for though.

Probably would've said yes to this a few years ago, hadn't the club got Maddison/Tielemans and when a new forward-thinkimg player in the middle was needed.

But just think the middle has a good combination of what's needed for a successful midfield and doubt this player would not start often.

Ron Robert Zieler is a world cup winner too.

Journeyman is harsh.

I don't want us to sign him but at his best he's very good. He just has legs made out of confetti.

He's made a pretty respectable career for himself for a guy with the worst knees in sport.

Not sure Fekir counts as a journeyman with his grand total of two clubs.

Also, solely youth isn’t what won us the title. There was a solid mix of 30ish players (Huth, Morgan, Fuchs, Simpson, Okazaki) and great scouting (Mahrez, Kante, Vardy).
