I did my weekend football predictions today.

I'm assuming that the replacement of Vieira with Hodgson will not massively inspire a struggling Palace squad so a New Manager Bounce is not inevitable.

I'm also assuming that, as our players (Maddison, Ward, Soutar, Faes, Castagne, Amartey, Mendy) had a successful international break, squad confidence will be boosted and performance massively improved.

I've therefore predicted us for a shock 2-1 win.......please tell me I'm not delusional!

I'm with you 100%. No point being fearful at this point. Hope the lads can maintain their international form and get the result we need.

"... a slight setback.." for Tielemans doesn't mean missing for weeks, Mr Rodgers

It does when you have a contract to run down and don't want to risk anything for your new club

The cynic in me could think you are right.

However he's paid to play for us until the end of the season, how unprofessional is he if he's actually doing this, and also how unprofessional is the person at the club  making the decision to allow him.

It's not like we are protecting him against any damage so that a multi million pound fee isn't scuppered when a deal falls through due to injury.

In all fairness he probably just isn't fit..

But I'm not discrediting your post Gamble92.  With the way the club is acting at the moment..who knows

These are shite. Wolves away level result incoming. Remember this post.

Mmmm, I hope you are right.

Could see us scoring (but not the 4)

But just don't see us keeping a clean sheet.  BrendanBall will be implemented and we will just invite pressure and concede..

Plus add into the equation -  Zaha

As long as the players play hard to win that’s all we ask. It’s not in your hands whether Palace turn up to fight or not. We’ve gotta arrive in the right mental and physical state. Players like Viktor we need in these battles as he steps up with the right attitude and gusto to push the others on.

Tactically? We simply have to cut out the silly mistakes and goals we keep gifting it’s really taking the P now. If these players are to be taken seriously can’t keep doing this week in week out …(amartay/faes/Timmy/ward)

Nah...

Halfhearted since he decided he was leaving.

I agree now.

I’ve generally been one to big Tielemans up but he ain’t the sort of player you want in a relegation scrap.

The problem is you can say that about quite a few of them. Soumare is the antithesis of a hard working midfielder. Tete might have a blinder but looks really lightweight. And Ward in goal…

The question is have we got enough players in the team up for the fight?

At least he/she remembered to use an apostrophe where necessary.

No we haven't. That's why could of done with Tielemans back. We're not going to get out of this by 'scrapping' or 'fighting'. It's not in our nature. We're too nice. The only way we'll get out of it is under Rodgers is by getting on the ball and playing football. We've still got a better squad than a lot of the teams down there, defensively we're clearly struggling, so the only way we're going to stay up in my eyes is through good moments of play and scoring goals.

Nah!

I wouldn’t drop Barnes. He’s one of the few who might actually get us a goal - even if he does frustrate at times

Disagree with that. Tielemans is one of the few players when you watch a game that you can clearly see communicating to other players.

That and he’s light years better than what else we have to offer in midfield.

Weird how Iversen has his insta name as Iverson

Weirdly, our two goalkeepers' surnames make neat anagrams. Ward -> Draw, Iversen -> Inverse, Iverson -> Version.

He is for sure, but he’s lightweight when we are in game where we don’t have much possession. Talking to the players is one thing, but we’ve seen time and time again that if an opposition midfielder stamps on him he goes missing.

I love watching Tielemans play in a side dominating the game. He’s our best CM by a mile. But we aren’t dominating games anymore.
eg. I doubt we’ll have most of the possession against Palace.
