Realistically, What’s our line-up come the opener 2023/24

I’m going to go out on a limb here and say we definitely are getting relegated. So, what’s the starting line-up on the season opener? I think the defence stays pretty much the same but I think they’ll be lots of changes up top

Souttar

Faes

Kristiansen 

 

Soumare

New Midfielder

 

Barnes

New Attacking Midfielder

Youri Tielemans   - Central Midfield
Tetê - Right Winger
Daniel Amartey - Centre-Back
Caglar Söyüncü - Centre-Back
Nampalys Mendy - Defensive Midfield
Jonny Evans - Centre-Back
Ryan Bertrand - Left-Back

 

 

7 first team squad out of contract, 6 of them potential first team players if not injured. On top of that Vardy is past it, and Maddison might leave, and if we get relegated, maybe another 4-5 players sold.

 

Because the squad development has been so badly managed, we need to replace almost 50% of our players this year, with basically no money, and very likely, looking for players happy to play in the championship.

 

And we have no recent evidence that the scouting team know what they are doing.

Willing to say, yeah, relegation was partly my fault and I'm willing to make amends. I'm sure there's lots of examples of clubs getting relegated and retaining "star" players.

 

I suspect Barnes might be another such one. I'm not saying he's NOT going to leave, just that it's by no means certain.

Keep Iversen, Justin, Kristiansen and kdh.. ain't bothered about the rest of them.

 

 

 

If Justin could've stayed fit he would have plenty of offers..he might get lucky, Luton might have him back

We won’t have moved them all before the opening day, but I imagine the only current first team players we’ll have around after deadline day will be Iversen, Ward (because who would touch him?), Vestegaard (because who would touch him?), Souttar, possibly Evans if we agree a deal with him, Kristiansen, Thomas, maybe Hamza, maybe KDH, Albrighton and if he doesn’t retire Vardy. I guess if he has a good relationship with Marsch we might keep Daka as well. Otherwise I would have thought it will be academy products, new signings and loans.

If anyone from the premier league comes in for Barnes, and they will, we won't see him for the dust he will be kicking up while getting away!

That defence would be strong. That midfield is National League!!!
