Is Dean Smith better than Rafa Benitez, Jesse Marsch and Brendan Rodgers?

Marsch, absolutely.

Benitez, absolutely not.

Rodgers, not for a couple of seasons, but they are however a different voice after it had gotten so stale under Rodgers, so are preferable in this situation

Surprised so many think he’s worse than Marsch. All Marsch has ever done has won a 1-team league where RB Salzburg have won the league literally every single season for the past decade, then failed catastrophically everywhere else. At least Smith had half decent spells at Brentford and Villa and he got Villa promoted and stabilised them.

Smith for 8 games is a much better option than a proven failure like Marsch for 3.5 years.

Unlike proven failure in the Premier League AND the Championship Dean Smith?!

Smith has also had successes in both those leagues though. Marsch has only succeeded in an extremely small European league where his club has about 5 times the funds of any other and walks the league every year.

Sometimes it’s not a case of who is the best… sometimes you just need to make a change because things have gone stale.

bit like changing your job.

I'm just pleased we are getting Shakespeare back. Genuine legend of the club and an extremely gifted coach. Will boost the morale of those players whose confidence is on its arse.

How can anyone compare Rafa to Smith is beyond me - shows ineptitude and lack of understanding as they may as well have left BR in charge tbh

Not sure why Rafa is rated so highly by our fans? Genuinely interested to hear why he’s be a better fit on a 3 year deal than Smith & Shakey?

Because he has history of keeping teams up? Has managed huge clubs? Is liked by most fans (apart from mental Chelsea fans) ?

What you on about?

Smith did a good job in League One with Walsall (kept them up then in the following seasons pushed on and got them to the Football League trophy final), stabled Brentford but then left for Villa and got them promoted in the same season. Never relegated from the PL with Villa.

The only job he's failed at is Norwich but he won't be the first manager there to get relegated given their budget compared to other clubs. I am not holding one poor job against him.

He wouldn't be my ideal choice but in our position now beggars can't be choosers and, for me, it's either Smith or Rafa.

Look at the track records and history

At EFC he was working with a pile of cack but organised them at least

At NUFC he kept them competitive despite Ashley

smith and shakey have achieved nothing tbh

no chance with our divided squad as it needs someone with proper experience to have a plan and implement it now - Rafa will do that and also take no prisoners - our squad is spoilt and been allowed to coast by BR
