Based on league position, the last eight games have been against three from the top (lost all three, scored one, conceded six), two from the middle (lost one, drew one, scored two, conceded four) and three from the bottom (lost all three, scored one, conceded four) winning a single point out of a possible twenty-four.

It's a similar run-in - two against the top (Man City and Newcastle), three against the middle (Wolves, Fulham and Liverpool) and three from the bottom (Leeds, Everton and West Ham).

Despite a new management team I just can't see how we go from winning one point out of twenty-four to eleven or twelve out of twenty-four.

I always had a belief during the 'Great Escape'. Sadly I don't feel the same this time around.

I reckon I need a ride on Foxhateram's Optimistic Bus. There's probably quite a few empty seats.

Being very optimistic here, but I think a result against wolves could spark a run. I’m going to stick my neck on the line and state after Man City we will go unbeaten. It’s the kind of mad thing we do.

There is positivity and then there is blind optimism. 7 wins all season, Dean would possibly get Manager of the year with those results.

Leeds and Everton the key matches. 2 wins there and draws with Wolves, Fulham and West Ham may be enough.

12 points will see us right.

I think we need to beat Fulham away - they're on the beach and have really gone off the boil, and will still be missing Mitrovic.

Liverpool have the same away record as us. We shouldn't fear that like we usually would.

The game against the others around the bottom will be the telling sign on what impact Smith is having as we've been absolutely abject in both of them so far this month, but I really feel we'll have to beat Wolves.

I have a feeling 36 points might be enough this season. Still a big ask for us.

I will ignore Man City, but with some positivity:

Man City (A) - 0

Wolves (H) - 3

Leeds (A) - 3

Everton (H) - 1

Fulham (A) - 1

Liverpool (H) - 3

Newcastle (A) - 0

West Ham (H) - 1

Puts us on 37 points. I would take that right now and gamble that 37 will keep us up.

4 wins or 3 wins and 2 draws should be enough - but it partly depends who we take points off and of course how the other teams do. We all play each other - can’t let any more of these six pointers like Bournemouth pass us by. I think it’ll be very, very tight come the last day of the season.

Do it on the last day against a West Ham side on the beach and knowing Moyes is gone that summer.

Think that might just be enough. Could do with West Ham getting themselves on the beach before that last game though.

The good news is that there are a lot of other 6 pointers to be played, so we are guaranteed that the other teams around us will drop points.

It’s really hard to call tbh. The only thing that’s sure is we need a big response from the team and fast. If we can get some decent points on the board I suspect the opportunity will be there for us. Everton looks to be the one that we absolutely have to win.

Need to win 3 of Wolves, Leeds, Everton, Fulham and West Ham, whilst scraping 2 or 3 points from the other 5 fixtures. In reality, I'll be amazed if this weak willed bunch have the steel to win away at Elland Road in a night match.

8 points from the next 5 games.  Wolves is massive,  if somehow confidence is restored we can go into Leeds and Everton targeting and  believing we can win both games.

you then go into the last 3 with Liverpool and potentially West Ham on the beach.

Personally I think it’s too tall an order but who knows.  There is a lot of dross around us which is the wild card.  It might be the year the lowest number of points are required to stay up.

It's tighter than a nuns you know what we just need as many wins as possible, I think we can do it because Everton, Forest and Leeds are worse than us and Southampton look dead and buried, Borunemouth could get dragged back into it.. we have to beat those around us and try and pick up points elsewhere.

didn't actually notice that given I did individual game weeks at a time, didn't have them down to get anything from Spurs, Chelsea, Palace and Man Utd, then ended up having them on the wrong end of tight games v Everton, West Ham, Leeds and Southampton

If any of you lot think Dean Smith won't have these lot absolutely revved to take Wolves apart in 10 days time then you're very silly. Whatever happens this weekend, I think we'll be in for a performance of the ages against an old enemy for Deano.
