I admire people's optimism but, after what was the worst performance since the mid 2000s at home, we're done.

Yeah same.

I think Bournemouth stay up now, it’ll be Southampton, Forest and us or Leeds.

EDIT: Quoted wrong person ffs, meant to quote whoever said if we got them in 2 games ago we’d have been fine, but left it too late.

Expecting nothing against Man City or Newcastle

I can just see us getting something against Liverpool and Fulham though I don't know why.

Think we'll slip up at Leeds but Wolves, Everton and West Ham should be there for the taking

We can still stay up but it's a huge task and we can't afford to lose any of the home games really

If we drop by a point our results in these last 3 games will keep us awake at night

Man City (A) - 0

Wolves (H) - 3

Leeds (A) - 3

Everton (H) - 3

Fulham (A) - 3

Liverpool (H) - 1

Newcastle (A) - 1

West Ham (H) - 3

Being very optimistic here, but I think a result against wolves could spark a run. I’m going to stick my neck on the line and state after Man City we will go unbeaten. It’s the kind of mad thing we do.

Be amazing if we did this! Takes some change in players mentality at the minute though.

Here we go. It's that time. The Run in.

Time to rally around the players (who have been a shower of something all season) and to back the club. We know things have been shocking, but hopefully with Dean Smith, Craig Shakespeare and John Terry we can get some fight back.

New Manager Bounce anyone?

8 games to go. How many points do you realistically think we'll get? Copy and paste the fixture list below, and insert your points!

Points as of 10th April: 25 points.

Man City (A) -

Wolves (H) -

Leeds (A) -

Everton (H) -

Fulham (A) -

Liverpool (H) -

Newcastle (A) -

West Ham (H) -

Final points:

Will it be enough?

This is what I'm going for:

Man City (A) - 0

Wolves (H) - 3

Leeds (A) - 1

Everton (H) - 3

Fulham (A) - 3

Liverpool (H) - 1

Newcastle (A) - 0

West Ham (H) - 1

Final points: 37

Will it be enough? Just.

After Bournemouth I didn't think we'd win another game. Now with Smith, Shaky and JT, whilst not perfect, I'm a little more optimistic we can pick some points up. When I looked at the fixtures I also thought around 36/37 total points tally. We have 5 winnable games, 6 if you include Liverpool as they have been garbage most of the season and will probably have little to play for. Don't see anything against Man C and Newcastle as they both fight for the title and top 4 respectively. Fulham will still be without Mitrovic but are a decent side but we have to believe we can get at least a draw against them. The other 4 are huge as it's teams down with us, so they are the games that will likely seal our fate

This is my final league table don't ask me how I got it to this lol

My main question is what on earth happens to Brighton in your predictions? They are 10 points behind Utd with a game in hand, you've got them finishing 25 points behind, serious case of food poisoning?

Remember before the World Cup we beat West Ham, Everton, Leeds, Wolves. We have a similar run soon so hopefully Smith will get something out of that.

We probably have to win 3 of the 4 games after the Man City game to give us a chance. Hopefully West Ham will be safe on the last day but it doesn't come down to that unless we get points on the board.

9pts. Optimism makes me think we have a chance against Wolves and Everton. But I think both will be too gritty for us at the moment. Hop I am wrong. 9pts may or may not be enough.

Forest's run in is absolutely hideous. Can actually see them finishing 20th.

I'm praying to any eldritch deity that will listen that Everton get their points deduction and we're left just scrapping it out with Southampton.

Surely we'd already be down before the last game if it went like this. Have to get most of our points before the Liverpool game.

I think 4 wins will be needed and also teams around us will need to keep losing. Wins against Wolves, Leeds, Everton, and West ham. It will be tough though. Points from those games puts the defeat against Bournemouth in context, it was an absolute disaster.

Posted

What saved our bacon in 14/15 was playing teams with nothing to play for.  They're the dream fixtures and it's looking like none of those (maybe Fulham) will fall into that category.

I think the last time that I saw something as horrendous as that was the infamous Sheff Utd match in the early days of Mad Martin at Filbert St.

I think if we could get to 36 points that would likely be enough. 3 wins in 8, with a couple of draws. There are 5 'winnable' games in our run-in (Wolves, Leeds, Everton, Fulham and West Ham), and I suspect we'll need to take points from at least 4 of those.

No chance of it happening on the basis of Saturday's performance, however if the new management team hit the ground running, who knows?

It's all on the new manager bounce and this isn't helped by having his first game as a nailed on loss. As someone said above we were massively helped in rhe great escape in that we played a whole bunch of mid table  on the beach teams. That's not the case here and means that Smith has to almost instantly cure 2 things that Rodgers has absolutely ingrained in our players over the past 2 years, total inability to cope with pressure, and inability to compete with any team that shows desire and puts up a fight. If he can't then I don't see us getting more than a point against Wolves Leeds and Everton when we need 7 as an absolute minimum.

Not necessarily. Last game West Ham may already be safe. Liverpool have barely anything to fight for and don't want to finish in conference league places....Newcastle may already have secured top 4 as well by the time we play them

Can’t go into the last game needing to beat West Ham after our final game experiences against yanited and spurs

I just wonder if too many of our players think they’ll be sold (and pick up the balance of their contracts)  if we drop which takes away their motivation. Clubs around us may well have the bulk of their players on relegation clauses and many players who believe they’ll be retained for a season in the championship to get back up.

It ALL about Wolves, get the engine started against a beatable direct competitor, the team just need to believe they can do it!!!  Going to Leeds with nothing will mean we are at the precipice.  We should have picked up at least 3pts this week, 94th min, 97th minute and a beating but dross, opportunity missed to make it MUCH easier.
