I think that is one of the stupidest things I have seen in a cricket match. It's making life so easy for the Australians. Cummins and the other bowlers aren't having to do any thinking.

Thank god we're playing winning cricket, dread to think where we'd be if we weren't.

Winning one in 17 like we were before the personnel change, possibly.

Of course, it would seem that both approaches may well lead to the same end here but if anyone has an idea that might give us more of an edge against this very good Australia side, I'd be all ears.

(Apart from actually learning to hold onto catches and getting a vaguely competent wicketkeeper in, that is. Those are obvious.)

Though I am too, angry frustrated at the general immature attitude of the English players…

This is the first time in a series against OZ,that we are seeing Bazbal…

Its this new culture that we are taking on the old enemy…

Nothing wrong in that…but it has been our aptitude, application, attitude mixed with some clever prudency, that is failing us…

Being given the freedom within your stroke play,or taking on the bowling,as to be first met, with assessing situations, and moments in your individual & team batting.

Going just Gung-ho,from ball one is not the right way, anymore than sitting too tight & scared of saying boo to every single delivery…Upping up your shot selection, and willing to put pressure on the bowler, being aggressive from ball one,all well and good. But last night team, with Root & Bairstow,or Brook playing the N03 spot, should of still been approached, and accompanied with clever shot selection ,timing of aggressive trigger-movement. Wait and asses to see first the ball movement, and not setting off chasing every ball from the get go

We are suckering ourselves. everytime…The Auusies are not forced to rethink any stragedy, they know we are too thick for our own liking…Root should of actually been told,is steady basic game should stay the same, with others having and taking Bazbal on around him. Root is anyway a quick run getter,we don’t need him to lean

too far out of the window…

So easy for Australia. I'm not fundamentally opposed to aggression - but there has to be some adaptability. We seem to have lost the thing I like about cricket - we've lost any subtlety in our approach.

Too many errors and simply outclassed at vital periods of the match

Moeen and Stokes showed this mooring that they can adapt, right up to the point Moeen decided he wanted an early lunch.

It is frustrating though.

The fans are now getting bored,of this incompetent not thinking stupid cricket…

Would be suprised if they would be interested in buying last 2 Tests tickets…

drunken yobs and thick hooray-Henry types, for the sponsor boxes maybe….

Having the pss taking out of you,by simple bouncer tactics…embarrassing Mr Stokes and Mckiwi..Really,Really embarrassing…English players even giving Dozos & assholes a decent name..

unless again we turn it..

NB. England did run through this team to the tune of six wickets for 23 yesterday, so I'm not having that they're that far ahead, to say nothing of other opportunities in the first two Tests. Of course, that they're ahead at all and particularly at critical times is the issue.

England simply haven't been ruthless enough to turn their times of advantage into a winning match, Aus have.

Yes - Stokes (who is a player who can actually play that aggressively effectively) has been very patient from what I've seen.

Though I can understand the reactions - it's the Ashes, at home, and therefore it means more.

But for me, I have to say, that doesn't invalidate the results before it nor the manner in which they were achieved.

Without the crap catching we would have skittled them out for around 160

They didn't bat much better. We just gave them lives.

That is also true, but they know how to take advantage of the moment, they field 11

players that can..
