Of course, it would seem that both approaches may well lead to the same end here but if anyone has an idea that might give us more of an edge against this very good Australia side, I'd be all ears.

 

(Apart from actually learning to hold onto catches and getting a vaguely competent wicketkeeper in, that is. Those are obvious.)

 

I'd certainly recommend not declaring early with 2 wickets in hand in the first innings on the first day of a test with only 4 overs left to bowl.

 

Additionally not trying to smash every short ball for 6 for fear of being likened to Geoffrey Boycott by idiots.

A little more circumspect depending on situation might help, yes.

 

Still not sure whether it would have made things better, guess it's difficult to tell.

I reckon we have to bowl them out for 200 max - and conditions are very good this afternoon. Tomorrow morning will be cloudy and humid ahead of the rain. Our bowlers didn’t even get a days rest!
