Rodgers and Maresca were both willing to give Alves a go in our first team. In Rodgers case that was at Premier League level.

It's going to be so short sighted to send these lads out to League One. Especially given our financial woes. Giggs was thrown in at 17 and thrived. Why not Alves or the others?

Its the exact opposite of short sighted. Every one of our successful academy graduates in the last 10 years has been out on loan first. Its experience that gets them ready physically and mentally for the rigours of mens football which is totally different from the Under 21 environment. Regular first team football for a few months will do them the world of good instead of 5 minutes here and there

Whilst you're not wrong, it's not the going on loan but that's essential. It's the playing football.

Why we can't offer that to a select few of these ourselves is on us. Other clubs do it, with just as much jeopardy on the line as us in what's at stake.

Next season is a unique situation. We may struggle to get the squad we'd ordinarily like for financial reasons and we may also be at a point where staying up isn't feasible so we have the perfect opportunity to blood our three standout academy talents. In fact I'd rather we did that anyway, regardless of points deductions.

The other thing is that other clubs give young players minutes to get them the exposure they need to get a good loan. Our young players are so unknown that no one of any calibre really wants them, so they end up having to work through the leagues a loan at a time.

Its forgotten by fans that with limited budgets and squad sizes, a lot of clubs aren't interested in taking a punt on a Leicester youth player even for a season as it just fills a place pointlessly.

The most shocking thing about this was learning the jon walters is now the sporting director at stoke. That’s football manager level stuff.

And from what I understand he's pretty good at the job too

Nothing shocking about that, there's plenty of 'average' footballers proving to be better at managing at the top levels of the game more so than 'elite' player i'd say.

wasn’t walters one of the lads huth used to get up to mischief with?

Just find it hard to see how a team like stoke plan to move in to the new age of football by bringing someone from the old cold wet night at stoke boys.

But if he’s decent then fair play to him.

Awful shame he didn’t go two years ago.. feel for the players he victimised and let down. At least the ones there now will escape the bully!!

What do you know about him?
