Sir Shep

So, Players for the Championship rebuild, who do you want?

Recommended Posts

Our 2023/24 line up

Iversen (Deserves his chance as 1st team GK)

Ricardo / Justin (Can't sell either with their injury records, so whichever is fit can start)

Souttar (Looks like a Championship defender)

Faes (Not convinced, but will need someone who isn't afraid of a challenge)

Kristensen (I think he will turn out a decent player)

New Ball Winning DM or Hamza Choudhary (Mendy out of contract, Ndidi needs selling, Soumare not good enough)

New CM who can pass the ball (or possibly a young creative AM like Alex Scott)

KDH (Honestly think we need a whole new midfield, but have to be realistic on how many signings we can bring in who will better our first 11)

New RW (Realistically we need a new RW, but we will end up with Albrighton as a new RW has been on our shopping list since 1963)

Jack Clarke (From Sunderland, most assists in Championship this season and we need creativity)

Iheanacho / Daka (Can we keep them? Both surely have goals in them at this level)

Although we need a leader, a captain and if the right person comes along Iversen/Faes could easily be dropped for a player with leadership

Our Bye Bye 11 (Plus more)

Ward

Amartey

Evans

Soyuncu (And Vestergaard)

Castagne (Bertrand not that he counts as he has hardly played)

Tielemans

Ndidi (And Mendy)

Soumare

Maddison (And Tete)

Barnes

Iheanacho / Daka (Can't see us keeping both)

I meant level of consistency, just to be clear. I'm not arguing that he can't perform at premier league level.

I just found it amusing that’s all, I’m sure you meant it the way you say there!

Yes I’m sure he would smash it over 40 odds games at that level but that would be because that level is lower than his standard.

I suspect we’ll see a more consist’s Barnes at a more competent club in the Prem.

Am I only the only one thinking we play hard ball with Barnes. As in he will have a relegation clause and we may refuse to sell.

Guessing this depends on him and our finances. If we don't need to sell we have every right to make him stay.

We are massively short on wide players.

Just a though. Crazy as it sounds...

Would be content with:

Iversen

Thomas

Souttar

Faes

Justin

Choudhury

KDH

Scott (from Bristol City)

Sarr (from Watford if he doesn't find a PL club/ Sorba Thomas if he does)

Nacho (in the unlikely event he stays, Daka if he doesn't)

Brereton Diaz

Diaz has signed a pre contract agreement with Villarreal I believe.

If we get a good offer we'll sell him. If we don't, we won't. I don't think there needs to be any hard stance on it. Same with any player. If people offer us 20-30 mill we'll just keep him like Watford did with many of their players when offered less than they wanted.

I feel like there is a bit of denial in some of the comments on who is likely to stay. There are some huge contracts that need to be taken off the wage bill.

Iversen

Smithies

Justin

Souttar

Thomas

Kristiansen

Choudhury

Dewsbury-Hall

Daka (even that is a push)

I think if we have these players left at the end of the window I'd be happy. Young hungry players to build around, and bring in the same. This is a chance for a nice exciting rebuild but only if all the players not mentioned above are sold some way or another.

Much good that did them.  Of course, Watford have other problems!

GK - Iversen, Smithies

LB - Thomas, Kristensen

CB - Faes, Souttar, 2x needed

RB - Ricardo, Justin (don’t think either will have a market with past injuries)

CDM - Hamza, 1x needed

CM - KDH, (1x needed)

CAM - (2x needed)

RW - Albrighton, 1x needed

LW - 2x needed

ST - Vards, Kel, Daka (Unless they want out I feel the wage reduction we could keep all 3.

9 players needed.

sell/release:

Ward - £40,000 in wages (No fee.)

Soyuncu £45,000 in wages (No fee.)

Evans £100,00 in wages (No fee.)

Amartey £20,000 in wages (No fee.)

Vestegaard £70,000 in wages (£5m fee.)

Castagne £65,000 in wages (£12m fee.)

Bertrand £80,000 in wages (No fee.)

Ndidi £75,000 In wages (£15m fee.)

Mendy £55,000 in wages (£5m fee.)
Soumare £80,000 In wages (£15m fee.)

Praet £75,000 in wages (£5m fee.)

Maddison £110,000 In wages (£35m fee.)

Barnes £40,000 in wages (£30m fee.)

Perez £45,000 In wages (No fee.)

Wage’s saved on a weekly basis - £900,000

Wage’s saved per year - £46,800,000

Transfer income - £122,000,000

Obviously a very rough estimate, I got the wage amounts from Spotrac for anyone wondering.

If the figures are true it’s worrying to think we are spending £225,000 a week in wages to Vestegaard, Bertrand & Praet.

people saying KDH will be shit at championship level - Luton hardly thought that

I'd rather Choudhury than Ndidi, unless by some miracle we get the non-fragile and actual player version of Ndidi circa 2019, and not the 40 year old man we have now.

Think you are being very optimistic in the extreme on some of those transfer fees and a bit negative on others.Would be astonished if we only got £65m for Maddison and Barnes combined. However that would not be as surprising as getting £15m for the imposter who is parading as N’didi or £15m for Soumare. Also will get nothing for Mendy he is out of contract.
