He was clearly running his contract down. However, the margin between us staying up and going down was very small. If he’d played every game, we’d have stayed up.

For me Cags was one of the bright lights for us in recent years. I won’t forget that first cruyff turn or his first goal and everything in between. I wish him all the best of luck in the future and will remember him with a smile on my face. Well done Cags.

No doubt Rodgers is an absolute ego freak for letting him rot, but people forget the initial dropping was absolutely deserved and he was a disgrace for a while. What was baffling was players like Tielemans were also yet seemed to get a free pass.

The situation between Soyuncu and Rodgers was one in a ****ing long list where the club needed to get on top very quickly. No one wants a hands on chairman telling the Manager who to play like we had with Mandaric, but we got the complete opposite with our structure of Rudkin and Top.

He'll be there for a short while then off. Aside from one good season, people forget he was littered with mistakes too.

As for "being good enough for Atletico but not Leicester", that argument doesn't make sense, Atletico signed Matt Doherty and I wouldn't want him here.

The worse thing out of all of this is we let him go for free. OP is right in that if Rodgers didn't want him then he should have sold him.

If the former manager hadn't spat his dummy out and played Soyuncu last term, instead of freezing him out, we would't be in our current predicament.

Just remember those turns to get out of trouble.

Good luck, Caglar.

One reason why I loathe our second most successful manager ever.

Not that i'm defending Rodgers, but it sounds as if he had the chance to go to a few teams like Chelsea at a cut price the summer before which Rodgers was happy to let happen. But him and Vesty decided to stay and he told them both they'd rot basically.

No worries, we'll meet him again when we face them in the champions league three seasons from now. That's an EnzoBall guarantee.

Overall been a great player for us and was appallingly managed by Brendan Rodgers.
