And if worst happened we still have Albrighton. As I said before, with a 25 man squad, we don't have the luxury of having 3/4 players in every position

We had played 5 pre-season games, 4 league games and 2 cup games before he left to join Bologna, as well as 2 months of training and I expect detailed meetings with Maresca with the squad to talk about the very specific tactics and player instructions for how he want the team and individual players to play

 

After all that if he still didn't like or understand the role he was never going to like or understand it.

If he still didn't like or understand the role after the team had played like that for 11 games, and will have been told by Maresca how the role was going to be played, he was never going to like or understand it.

There was a lot of stuff going on behind the scenes with him, apparently. He is one who could’ve be handled better. IMO, he could have played the Doyle role well. He did understand it (it’s not hard!) I just don’t think he was wanted

Listen, if you’re not concerned by the fact that we have two fit full backs (one in Ricardo, that is playing a very specialist role) who are both ‘sick notes’ in their own right, then fine. Time will tell I guess.

Enzo has been clear that many players are playing different roles/positions than they are used to, like Ndidi for example. We have players that, whilst may not be natural full backs, can play there if needed. Do you really think Enzo would have played Hamza against Norwich (who are meant to be one of the stronger teams despite getting humped by Plymouth today) if he a. Didnt rate him and b. Didnt think he could play that role. We also have mcateer who has played as a left back/wing back plus Albrighton if things got really bad. We also don't know the extent of Doyles injury, he could be back in a week or 2 for all we know. I just don't understand why people seem to find negatives when we are doing well.

I’m not looking for negatives. As I said, we’ll see won’t we. I disagree with your analysis of the situation

But that’s what I’m saying is the wrong approach. To only have JJ covering both right back and left back is bonkers with the amount of games we have this season 

 

We’re so reliant on Ricardo playing in his specialty role (and Winks btw), just means we are now left very short after one injury to Doyle
