The Enzo sign was enough to confirm he’s a disruptive little tosser. How id love to see Nigel Pearson deal with him!

This is the thing Ruud has dealt with him but now it’s the mangers fault.. you can’t make it up

Winks is decent. Hope we keep him.  What we really need is a style of play and players to compliment that.

We haven't had that all season.

But does that mean we have to revert to the slow, boring football under Maresca?

No. Maresca was pretty big on drilling passing patterns into the team. Those patterns were for short passes and Winks was integral to that. In short, Winks passed short and slow because that's what was demanded of him from the manager.

There is no reason to believe he wouldn't play more direct and faster if that's what a new manager would ask of him.

I doubt you'd have read about it in the papers. Until the court case was resolved, that is!

One of the biggest disappointments this season for me.. He was great last year and seemed to actually "get it" – always came across well, really switched on, being at West Brom and QPR for those goals was phenomenal..

But this season he's looked so far off it on the pitch and doesn't seem to want to put his head above the parapet in any regard.. Invisible man

In the Championship yeah.

Even in the Premier League.

Limit players in the right system, can be effective.

He had KDH covering for him last season, which complimented him.

Our team this season, is worse than the one that came up.

Dropping Winks and playing Soumare isn’t exactly the formula for success (in my opinion).

Winks is a metronome player. He’s like Joe Allen, Michael Carrick etc of years gone by. These players have a use but are often overlooked.

Winks has clearly fallen out of favour with Cooper and RVN. However both has also made other bizarre decisions, so I’ll reserve my judgement on if they have a future with us, until we have a competent head coach.

100% this.

He’s a technically tidy player.

Winks couldn't even lace Carrick's boots!

"Would Pearson have liked him" is going to be my only criteria for signings moving forward.

I’m only ever excited about us signing Man United reserves and Ligue 2 midfielders. Look what you’ve done to me Nige.

Whilst not convinced these players would have kept us up I do agree that the creative players were very much under utilised during Ruud's reign.

The fact that Buonanotte got hardly any minutes is a real mystery. He'll go on and have a great career somewhere where he is given minutes.

I know he’s public enemy number 3 right now but surely he’s ideal for Martin?

Id be disappointed if he left as for this type of system he’s clearly an ideal fit. Hopefully his issues stop at Ruud

Think he’s a good option in the championship. He isn’t good enough for the Prem, but why the fuchs RVN thought Soumare was a better option is beyond me. At least Winks offers set piece distribution and some decent passing as part of his game, Soumare offers nothing at all.

Can’t understand why he was frozen out at all.

I’m guessing a lot of trouble behind closed doors especially after his travel issues , it seems like RVN froze him out after he wouldn’t change.

People saying he’s not good enough for the Premier League, I think he is in the right system, but we haven’t used a system that suits him.

He’s not great in a double pivot, he’s better as a stand alone 6 where he can drop deeper in the build up and with two 8s ahead of him as passing options.

Soumare has obviously been preferred due to his physical attributes making him more suited to playing in the double pivot.

Wouldn’t be shocked to see a team like Brentford/Fulham want him. Prem/international experience, tidy player in the right system and will be pretty cheap.

IMO, he’s not got the physicality/ pace/ awareness of trouble to play single pivot 6 in the PL or championship unless he’s at a team which has 60%+ possession stats.

Yeah I should have said as well in a possession based side, too.

To be fair you don’t see many sides use a single pivot if they aren’t playing a slower build up style.

Which means he absolutely should be sold now to avoid another walk away on a free

Agreed 100%, I am no fan of Ruud or Cooper but Winks behaviour this season has not been great, the I miss you Enzo sign and then the refusal to stay one night a week at the training ground, whilst not a contractual obligation, speaks volumes of the lack of professionalism. For me he has to be moved on, if both Winks and Vesty are in the squad/starting XI at the start of the season then it really does send out the message that the players are ruling the roost and that cannot happen.
