Like with almost every player, a half decent offer and get rid.  if he’s not gone I suspect he’ll be reintegrated in some form as he has proved he’s a capable player in the championship and I suspect Hamza, Soumane and N’didi will all go.

Next year, He’ll be playing for a new contract even if not with us so it’s in his interest to actually play and not be a total bell.

Whilst i think he was wrong, I'm not angry with him. He thinks he's morally right that he is with his newborn every night in London, he's got his missis in his ear and its an easy trap to fall into, he's just been an idiot, however if he were to think about it, it wasn't beyond his capability to fulfil his commitment to his family, and the club, and if he were to apologise I'd be happy for him to play for us next season. I cant see it though

While I can see your point of view and you have to respect him for thinking of his wife.

In the interest of the club he should have listened to Ruud and negotiated a compromise instead of refusing point blank.

That aside while he's a tidy footballer, he's not what we need. Not strong enough in tackling , looses possession too easily and was the cause of quite a few of the goals we conceded. Take targeted him into mistakes.

I actually like what Ruud has said we need for the new season. Physically bigger and stronger players who are a lot Fitter. While we need a bit more also, that's a good place to start. Especially in the Championship where Refs are more lenient.

if we can get our money back for him, I'd take it and move on.

These are things footballers need to consider when joining a club. He was here before his baby was born, and if his wife wanted be closer to her home town post birth he should have requested a move away.

I don’t want players living in London and playing here, he has also been completely disrespectful and lacked major class with the Enzo sign, as did anyone who was involved…. Winks can go, he’s not that good anyway and his attitude stinks.

Didn’t Mahrez live in London?

Possibly later down the line whilst he was here but I’m pretty sure he lived in Leicester and possibly off of London Road in the early days.

We were doing well as a club so nobody seen much of an issue to these things aswell as a group of players living Cheshire way

What was not to like about Winks last year, be mad to get shot….ok Premier League maybe not so, but he was sublime at times last year…

Really? I thought he was one of our less impressive performers post-New Year. Add to that how poor and at times outright unprofessional he's been this season, and I tend to take the view that if you don't want to see the back of him then why would you want to see the back of any of them?

We can't simplify all that's happened to being the fault of two substandard bosses. I don't rate Ruud and I don't think Cooper was right for the job either, but their opinions have got to carry some weight - especially when criticism of Winks can be observed in acts of unprofessionalism which we've seen with our own eyes, and in plenty of journalism which seems to back it up. I might not like Ruud, but I've not seen any version of events which makes his request to Winks seem unreasonable.

Ultimately, unless we try to rebuild comprehensively next year, and structure our side around personnel and a style which can realistically - to a point at least - be maintained upon promotion, then we'd be signing up for instant relegation again. When I see people saying they'd welcome Enzo back (for all of the many positive things I could say about him), or someone vaguely similar to him, and that our recruitment was great last year, it seems like some of us are basically asking for more of the same. I'd argue that if we want to build something which is made to last then there are lessons to be learned not only from what we did after promotion, but also what we did before it. If things were so rosy back then, frankly I don't understand why you'd be so angry about the board. Surely you'd be in agreement with a lot more of what they've done over these past couple of years than I would.

Class act in the championship and we have no idea if how the fall out happened-  I’m certainly not backing a gaffer I massively dislike and who is our worst manager in history over a guy that was superb last year and would be again next year - I’m not having him being a bad egg either - not a jot of that in his history - I’d rather have him around than ruud next season 100%

we wouldn’t find a better championship midfielder for 15 million - which we don’t have by the way - be criminal to get rid of him

and yes I know he isn’t good enough for the prem - but if that’s the standard we are applying for next year then we literally have zero players good enough - none

Again, a class act for half a season in the FLC. Let's not rewrite history. And surely the main lesson from last season was that if the backbone of the team, and the established line-up, contains too many players who are going to need replacing in the EPL (e.g. Justin, Faes, Vestergard, Winks, Mavididi, as well as - arguably - Ndidi, Ricardo, Vardy and, in the event, even KDH) then you'll come straight back down. We can't build around people that we know not to be good enough at this level: Bit-part players and a bit of know-how here and there - maybe - but you need to go up with a core of players that can step up. Unlike, say, Harry Winks.

And, while I'm at it, we've found a great many better midfielders than Winks for less than 15m, even allowing generously for the inflation of fees. The last side we got promoted with before 2023 contained one, arguably two of them (Drinkwater, James). The one before that (Izzet), and that the one before that (Izzet, Lennon, Taylor, Parker) both contained budget buys who did a whole lot better than Winks when we went up. And I'm fairly positive that the most recent sides to go up and stay up could say the same too.

I agree but squad rebuild will be over 4 windows at least i reckon, and Winks bosses the championship

Couldn’t disagree more. The club needed each and every player to step up during hard times this year, if you can’t do that I want you no way near the club.

This is the reason why we have become a yo-yo between leagues. Every player can step up when times are good, but when you face adversity true colours show.

People talk about the step up in quality from the championship - premier league and don’t get me wrong there is a difference but I honestly believe it is exaggerated massively. Brentford a few seasons ago had an average at best squad, Everton the last few seasons, Bournemouth etc. What’s needed is a good tactical manager and squad that wants to fight.

Shocking signing by Maresca. Yeah yeah he could knock the ball around nicely at Championship level. I’d expect a lot more for £10mill and 90k p/w in wages. Found completely wanting at PL level and thinks he is bigger than the club.

I bet we won’t shift he due to the wages and he’ll leave next summer instead for free as with many others.

Certainly didn't for most his time here him and Leo lived in the same cul de sac for a while. A mate of mine was there neighbour. Did say Leo was a great neighbour, not a fan or mahrez apparently lived like a bit of a tramp.

As for winks convinced he ends up at QPR just to be in London. Guess he came for Enzo and the minute he left he's been throwing his toys out since.

Very true but that carrot didn't seem to spur Tielemans on unfortunately. I'd just like to see the back of him personally along with now a majority of the others.

Am I missing something or is there a reason that people have decided that it's Winks that is the issue?

I'm not saying that he isn't! What I'm saying is do we know for sure because as far as I can see, he hasn't got any previous for acting out but Ruud does have a reported history of clashing with players. There was the whole Okoli thing earlier in the season as well as a few reports about clashes with some players at PSV that led to them going to upper management about him and a section of players being less than sad when he left..

It could well be the case that Winks was being a **** but I'm just wondering if there is a reason we have decided that it DEFINATELY falls on him and not a manager that has shown that he isn't exactly competent.

Winks has threw his toys out the pram, plus he's not really that good is he, he can pass the ball about 10 yards that all he has to his game, get rid.

That's about 9 yards more than any of our current centre mids excluding Bilal.

At the time, I’d say he was actually the perfect signing from Maresca. Winks is a perfect player to have as the controller in midfield when dominating possession, which we of course did in the Championship. Signing a midfielder like Winks in a possession dominating Championship team made perfect sense.

In the Premier League though, when you’re surrendering possession and having to defend more, that’s where Winks’ flaws come to fruition. He will get bypassed far too easily, because he hasn’t got the legs and the defensive nous.

If he does stay, he’ll probably be alright in the Championship again, but if we go back up again, I’d be getting rid.
