Find it absolutely bizarre that the fanbase are turning on a young goalkeeper going through a confidence crisis, while previously being mostly reliable, instead of the board, the manager and many of the other frauds destroying this football club from the inside. If anyone deserves a bit of extra support from us, then it’s Jakub, even if he needs a little time out.

I've seen enough of him to see that he's mostly reliable on the line, not confident at all at stepping out and going low, very late on high balls, bad passer, panics easily.  This season his mistakes contributed to two or three and maybe more matches that we lost.  That being said,  he's OK for this level of play.

The second goal we conceded to lose the game against Watford shows its not ok for this level.

It's always difficult for a keeper .... he will make 9 good saves ... and 1 fu*k up ... but most will only talk about the latter... but for saying that he lacks lots of qualities ... command off his area, distribution and taking crosses to name a few ... his errors will cost points but a dysfunctional defence in front of him doesn't help

Here is my thought on Jacob

Jacob >/ Howler Ward

Jacob every time

He is young, he'll make some mistakes, but he will win us matches! The defense in front of him is putrid and often leaking like a sieve. His confidence is surely tested as he can't just play it to anyone in the back or even the midfield.

He is the least of our worries yet one of the costliest to improve upon.

we have much much bigger issues than Jakob

Very True !!!

The club is in need of a major rebuild that due to being on a Championship budget will have to focus on youth.

The problem for me is that we have no-one at the club to oversee a rebuild. Owner, Manager, DoF..... All incompetent. !!

so, Begovic also isn't ok for this level? Because he was just as weak from a cross v Middlesbrough for their late equaliser

Yeah, but he didn’t come from the academy.

He's good enough to be a starting goalkeeper in a team pushing for the top 4 in this league. I don't think he'd be particularly good enough long term if we go up but that seems very much like a problem for another day, frankly.

We've far bigger things to worry about, namely who plays immediately in front of him.

It's also understandable given how far our standards have fallen in a very short space of time.

I'm not at all convinced he's good enough to be first choice.

Just feel it’s unfortunate that players like him can get caught up in the toxicity, despite not playing any part in the first relegation and only playing ten games last season.

A majority on that pitch in a Leicester shirt deserved that treatment as well as him. He flapped numerous times at crosses. He’s a liability a lot of games this season. So are most the other highly paid piles.

He didn’t have a good game at all, and as a keeper, there’s naturally a lot of attention on performances. However, the treatment he received during the game will have only worsened his confidence especially at the moment. He was unfortunately caught up in the toxicity on the day. Not a player we should be turning on though.

I don't see that dropping him for a few games would achieve anything.

Got to either drop him & get rid, or keep him in goal, grit your teeth, and hope its just a rough period of his development.

With the alternatives available,  and the lack of confidence i have in the club to make the right replacement, I am siding with the latter option.

Needs to get a grip though because hes becoming a liability..

I don’t know about this ‘drop him to take him out the firing line for a bit’.

Goalkeeper is a different beast. It’s much easier to do this with an attacking player or you know, central midfield, even a full back. The type of position that get regular in game changes so you can put the player on the bench and still give him minutes, rather than remove him fully.

With a goalkeeper, if you take him out now, given this seems like a crisis of confidence given he has shown talent, probably finishes him off.

For me, it’s a question of whether we see a future for him at all. If we remove him now, he has to be sold. Otherwise, coach him, improve him and let him work through this.

As others have said, whether in the stands or on here, it’s disappointing to see fans turning on a player in his first proper season, rather than where the anger should be directed.

We should give our backing to the young players like Stolarcryk and Nelson as at least they represent assets for the club. Returning to Begovic is even more short term thinking for a non-guaranteed improvement.

A fair point. Suppose you only have to look at what's happened to Hermansen at West Ham, who looks as good as finished there already.

When do you actually bring him back in if you do drop him? What is Begovic is bad and lets us down too? What if he's good, then is he finished for a 38 year old?

I'd possibly keep him out for the next three and then start him again at Cheltenham, a game we 'should' win. I'm saying this as someone who has mostly defended him as well. He's in horrendous form, the last month has been Ward-esque.

We ****ed this up. He shouldn't be starting for us.

Two opportunities, one last year in the PL and the year before where Stolarczyk could have gone out on loan and played 46 games. He's  inexperienced, and he's ****ing 25 years old.

Before, half a season in League Two... I'm sorry but he doesn't pass the eye test and his parry's of shit shots into the most dangerous area is embarrassing. That, and his kicking won't be trained out of him, it's too late.

Same old shit as sticking with Ward after losing Kasper which absolutely relegated us. A Rudkin masterclass masked by 'no money'. Despite bringing in two ****ing goalkeepers.

It is ridiculous to be honest - he's a 25 year old with the experience of a 20 year old. More fantastic planning from sabotage FC.

Still dont think he's anything close to being an issue. Someone could ping one too bins from 30 yards and the Gary nevilles will be saying he shouldn't be beaten from there.

Tonnes of issues to address before you worry about improving the keeper. Mainly having 10 outfield players that want to win games.

Very true, but having a player in any position that costs atleast a goal a game, in a low scoring team, is an issue.

Just look at James Justin, he cost us endless points.

I think his current form is as much an issue as anyone on the pitch.

Goalkeepers dont generally get better by not playing.

He has made a couple of mistakes but it is his first season with us as a Number 1.  That comes with it’s own pressures and difficulties.

Throw into that, the back 4 and DM that have been in front of him have been for want of a better word, gash.  It doesn’t lend him much scope to be a world beater.

Hermanson looked dogshit after he came back from injury and people were saying we should have got £50m for him.

Cut Jakub some slack.

Yeah I don’t have the answer. I do think it could be terminally damaging to him. But as with you, even as someone who likes him and wants him to do well, he is struggling and there’s no denying that. I’m not sure Ward-esque as he had made saves which Ward physically didn’t do. You could know that shots on target would match goals for the opposition. But a poor run of form all the same.

Personally I think the team and coaching is the problem and he is struggling as a result. If you swapped him with one of the better performing keepers in the league, let’s say Coventry, I suspect Jakub would be flying and any keeper would struggle in our side with one of the worst defences in the league and probably the worst coached side in the league.

I tend to think either back him or sell him.

he’s rubbish, how can you say he will win us matches? Massive mistakes every week , yes the defence is poor, but that doesn’t excuse his performances. Watford game was an embarrassment and we will lose games directly because of him.

Is it fair to say we looked more solid in the games Begovic started in?

He was in nets for both sheff Utd and Southampton personally think it proves it’s the people in front that are the issue.

I also remember Begovic making crucial saves in several matches.

Even at 38, he's a better goalkeeper than Stolarczyk.

Its a bit like choosing between Herpes and Ghonorria really.

As someone else mentioned, Begovic conceded 3 against Sheffield United and 3 against Southampton,  as well as a couple of others in games and also failed to keep a clean sheet.

Can't really say if any of the goals were bad mistakes, or something Stolarczyk could have done better with.

I think both are poor, so if I had to choose between one, id stick with Stolarczyk in the hope he develops.

I always remember Hermansen though, who we were incredibly blessed with, would make some unreal saves and then end up getting beat by a daisy cutter or near post etc.

I honestly don't know, but Stolarczyk is a liability currently and as ive already said, thats as much a concern as any other part of the team.
