Yeah I don’t have the answer. I do think it could be terminally damaging to him. But as with you, even as someone who likes him and wants him to do well, he is struggling and there’s no denying that. I’m not sure Ward-esque as he had made saves which Ward physically didn’t do. You could know that shots on target would match goals for the opposition. But a poor run of form all the same.

Personally I think the team and coaching is the problem and he is struggling as a result. If you swapped him with one of the better performing keepers in the league, let’s say Coventry, I suspect Jakub would be flying and any keeper would struggle in our side with one of the worst defences in the league and probably the worst coached side in the league.

I tend to think either back him or sell him.

A lot of the problems would be fixed with simple coaching, yet we repeat them over and over.  He seems caught in two minds with what to do, he is too slow in deciding to throw out to a start a quick counter, then the players stop making those runs as the defence has to control everything.  The defence invite the press, and then pass back to him so he now has to react quickly with a forward pressing him,  all because JV or the other clowns mess about with the ball.  Rinse repeat.

I will say it again his poor form and the mistakes coincides with the new goalkeeper coach coming in, I have a feeling he is being asked/coached to do things differently and it’s having a negative impact on his decision making and form.

His fundamentals are not there.

Needs to go back over the basics first. i.e guard his near post more, doesn't attack the high ball properly,  doesn't prepare for shots correctly, needs to release the ball much earlier etc etc

Yep, I agree. I think some players by virtue of not showing any quality or having poor attitudes you can write off and move on. But sometimes, Jakub and Nelson are two, they are young and clearly have many qualities so you have to look at the coaching, mentality of those around etc.

I’d rather we coach him than bin him off.

Sadly those two, Mav and Fatawu have all been infested by the rot around them.  It seemed so easy for Nelson to just carry on playing like JV, when previously what's impressed is his solid, no messing around defending and quick pass out to Skipp or JJ.   A new coach is needed to drill some purpose, accountability and actual positive tactics into them.

You can see that when he goes to do something quickly, he stalls and then everything takes even longer.

This is all over the pitch.  Players avoiding the basics and simple options to play a certain way which isn't their strength.  Weak leaders can't see the flaws and strengths of the team and themselves.  It feels like the American corporate mindset of just get it done with the added Thai culture of never questioning someone higher than you or admitting mistakes for fear of losing face.

We all see the same mistakes every week for the past 2 seasons, yet the coaches and players repeat them, even bringing in new players to continue with the rot.  I remember all those years ago in a short doc, Matty James with an iPad showing him all the clips of the things he did bad and good and what to work on.

so, Begovic also isn't ok for this level? Because he was just as weak from a cross v Middlesbrough for their late equaliser

Possibly true, but he hadnt played for a while.....

much calmer today not much to do but no mistakes and would have had a clean sheet but for a deflection off Thomas right infront of him, his distribution was good tonight aswell.

It was important for him today to just have a quiet game

Definitely. He’s had a rough few games, including when the team was doing better (Ipswich goal and at Hull) so nothing to do particularly is good!

Well he didn’t drop any clangers last nite so hopefully he has learnt but let’s see next game. Just keep it simple and command the box

Whatever the problem is here with Jakub, Danny Ward is not the solution. Never, ever. I can't actually believe people realistically suggest so.

He didn't have much to do last night bar claim a couple of crosses. Defence in front of him played well and kept it quiet for Jakub.

For a big bloke he looks such a fanny dealing with anything in the air

He’s shocking. Not sure how anyone thinks different.

On earlier saying he had made the most mistakes leading to a goal in the league.Easily one of the worst keepers i’ve seen

I saw that. People post so many stats about him yet seem to miss that one out.

He's gone from being a decent keeper, to a promising keeper, to an average keeper for a mediocre championship team, to a weak link in a mediocre championship team, to a weak link in a shite championship team.

Sad to see but results are more important than some sort of youth quota. Get him out the XI asap.
