Ever been back to the town or village it comes from?

I think it'd be really interesting to trace ancestry back to another country. For me it's just Chelmsford or Sileby.

No. Unfortunately the original place isn't recorded in my families history. 

 

I would love to know more about my grandad's Transylvanian background before it became part of Hungary. 

 

TBF he didn't have much information. I only know he was a shoe mender.

 

When I looked on t'internet at my surname, the only links were my 2 brothers and a wealthy builder in Australia.

 

As far as I can tell from limited research, my surname is the only one existing in this country.

Always thought that of Marlow too. Know quite a few unrelated people with that surname, but never see it anywhere else.

Both sides of my family are almost unerringly from Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire. Ost, ost ost midlands.

Yup, to be fair mine shows as "no data" but that's because the brits  misspelled our surname when my grandfather  came to England. When I put in our english spelling  of our last name i can vouch for these areas noted below
