I actually think the Nacho/Vardy combo that worked so well in 2020/21 would work in this league, Vardy occupying defenders making space for Nacho but tbh as long as we're winning the lack of striker goals isn't a concern. With 42 games to go, either of them could still bag at least 15-20.

No. Eventually the goals will be evenly distributed amongst the attacking players. This is the way modern football is played these days, the false 9 has more or less changed the need to rely on one player to score goals. The only reason Haarland does is because he’s a freak, but Man City still distribute the goals elsewhere.

You’ll probably see the whole front line end up with 10+ goals this season.

I'd be more concerned if we were solely reliant upon the goals of 1 player. Given the way Enzo likes to play (getting attackers into the box) I'd suggest things are going as expected. That is with goals being spread across our attack.

I am a little concerned with the lack of chances we create in general. I have every faith in what I've seen so far that things will click eventually.

Great assist by Kelechi yesterday and against Cardiff he was superb in the first half and only the woodwork kept him out. He will be fine. Agree that the combination with Vardy could work however having Jamie coming on fresh with 20 mins to go has been too much for teams in this division so I think the current arrangement is working.

I’ll be happy to get this month over before Kelachi starts a run of scoring plenty.  Convinced had he hit the ground running and scored four or five already we’d bet getting interest this week from a prem side like Everton and we could do without that.

He's only scored 'plenty' and shown any consistant form in empty stadiums, it's not happening.

It’ll come.

Ultimately the players who are scoring are scoring because the strikers are creating them space.

When we went up in 2013/14 teams were playing high lines against us hence why Vardy and Nugent bagged loads, that’s not how teams set up now.

This isn't a moaning thread by the way. I'm fully behind the new regime. Just wanted to know people's opinions on it. Obviously whilst we're winning people aren't going to be too fussed.

On the playing like Man City thing, don't they score a lot of cutbacks from the byline?

Hate to say it but the way Piroe plays would have been perfect to be our man through the middle in how we are now playing. A huge Opportunity lost losing out to Leeds.

Nacho's assist yesterday was as good as a goal.

He will score a lot of goals this season at this level. Been unlucky so far but that will soon change.

He's been... unlucky for an awful long time now

6 of the 7 goals we've scored have been 70 mins, surely we can't keep doing this, can we?

Not concerned at the moment… and even though the football hasn’t been brilliant at times, I’m not concerned about that either.

We are in the early stages of a complete change of formation, roles, style etc. We will  get better. And the strikers will score.

But I don’t think we will see our best until the transfer window is closed. There are still players in the squad that need to leave and one or two who are starting that may also have an eye on a move away.

Will feel a lot more settled in a couple of weeks time

I did wonder if people would be saying Nacho is the problem.

But if you watch whats happening in the game, he barely gets the ball in the box, nearly every time the shot is taken or the pass goes to another player when Nacho is in a good position, same happened with Vardy as well, Vardy was in an awesome position and KDH not so good, but KDH took the shot.

I expect Enzo has instructed people to take the shot when they can.

Its just that currently the way we playing doesnt involve a CF.

Mavididi should have put it on a plate for KDH(?) - that would have been the best chance we’ve created all season

my concern is the players are being a bit too selfish and not looking up for their teammates who are in better positions. Think the strikers main role for us is to play a false number 9 rather than an out and out striker which is perfect for Kel, but unless were countering I don't really expect him to be the one to get on the end of crosses as he'll drop deep or wide, so as many have mentioned it'll be the midfielders ghosting into the box this season. Only kind of striker that would score goals for us is a target man with crazy mobility or a Messi-mould player with insane dribbling but both aren't likely obviously and Kel is probably in the middle in terms of those styles of play; not particularly tall but not weak, not quick but not slow, good on the ball but sometimes falls over.
