I think Winks could play this role if he got higher up the pitch.

And then we have no one to play his role.

Also don’t think he has the running capacity to be a number 8 in this system

Absolutely yes.

Ndidi and KDH cannot continue to play with each other. Especially against stides that want to nick a goal and shut up shop.

Not a chance we get beat 5-0 with KDH giving away possession in far more dangerous areas

it's an easier pass though and then play don't break down when it gets to KDH or Nididi as Winks is a much better passer

Too be honest my biggest issue with KDH isn’t making mistakes trying to play difficult, intricate passes, it’s the high number of “unforced” errors he makes when making fairly simple passes he has a bad habit of either getting intercepted or playing it into touch. Playing his deeper would just lead to us surrendering possession in more dangerous areas. Winks biggest asset is his ability to retain possession and break the press so we can then attack. He is the classic deep lying playmaker.

I think Winks would be more suited further forward, I don't think KDH would surrender possession as much playing in the Winks role, it's not like it's alien to them.

Once Casadei settles he'll be quality.

I think there's a distinct air of impatience amongst the club (mainly fans) right now. Expecting everything to be rosy and perfect.

Give Casadei some time to grow into things.

I think that's the plan and maybe after a 2 weeks break where he's working on the system, Enzo will have enough courage to start him.

We have to remember that a lot of these loan players are really young. Casadei is 20, Doyle is 19, Fatawu is 19, Cannon is 20.  It’s really exciting but Enzo has to manage it. It’s probably not a bad thing Casadei has been eased in. I agree he is going to be mustard.

Exactly. I think majority of fans expect the new players to a) be the finished article and b) click instantly.

There'll be a fair few games where we'll come unstuck and find it incredibly difficult to break down teams. Just the nature of this league that things won't go our way. But hopefully, we'll have enough quality and moments where the team does click (like we have so far) and we are successful. I agree with Maresca in that we do need to be more clinical and some of our decision-making in the box does need to improve.

What we’ve seen from Maresca’s side so far, even though it’s early days, I think we have a personnel problem in certain areas, the 8 position being our main weakness right now.

We lack creativity from that position, we also lack depth in that position.

I said in the Maresca tactics thread that starting Casadei could be the simple solution, looking beyond that though KDH really needs to up his game, while the only other option right now is Ndidi, who’s been extremely poor when in possession in a few games already this season.

Maybe another solution is to move McAteer into that position.

If we are to see more results like yesterday, then I put the blame thoroughly on a personnel problem rather than a tactics problem.

As @Dan LCFC said, not signing a creative 8 could end up ageing really badly.

We do miss one in Maddison but then again that didn’t stop us from being relegated.

I actually think with the way Enzo plays though we miss pace upfront and in transition more than anything else. We need to mix it up with Daka and Albrighton who can put in those early long balls.

We are simply too slow in our build up at the moment.

Without a doubt.

We lost our only 10 and haven’t brought one in.

Excited to see what Alves does when he’s back though.

How about Nacho playing there now we have Cannon?

Sorry this isn’t acceptable….. the chap next to me made a thorough and fair assessment of Akgun after 50 minutes when he said “he’s ****ing shit him”…… we only need to see five minutes of a player to make an assessment…..

Enzo missed a trick against Hull. Free hit. Shoulda brought Vardy on while keeping Kelechi on the pitch.

I do think Kel prefers to play deeper, maybe that is the thinking long term for Vardy or Cannon to be the 9, and Kel to be a little deeper. For sure a wasted opportunity when we needed a goal. But I guess it worked not playing 2 forwards against Coventry, Huddersfield and Cardiff in the last 20 minutes.
