So it's 2024 and we're still doing the whole 'if you say you love Pearson but don't think he would have won us the league then you obviously hate him' are we?

Brilliant transfer but no way near best ever

Maybe best ever wasnt the right terminology. Most important transfer might make more sense, Vardy and Mahrez dont come good and win us the league if we dont stay up in 14/15 and we dont sign Kante at all if we didnt sign Huth.

That transfer was a massive defining point.

I don't think anybody truly believes we'd have won the league with Pearson. He's my favourite ever Leicester manager and he 100% set the foundations but Ranieri was the perfect storm for the title win. Nigel would've been throttling reporters all season lol

The Cambiasso meeting is one of the more revered pieces of Foxestalk folklore.

Some have even used it as evidence that he should be our next manager.

probably some balloonhead

One of the best, but I really don’t think there is any debate on THE best …

I think if we're talking the actual signing, like the timing and the decision to bring someone in, rather than the long term impact of the player (if that makes sense?!), Huth's loan signing takes some beating. Really think we'd have gone down without him, and the careers of the man above and Mahrez may look quite different.

I can understand the Roma comment cause he is a fan. However, being rude on the day of remembrance of a man who saved him from managerial oblivion is not on. I’m hoping this isn’t true because it brings the “nice guy” tag into question. It’s very disrespectful and simply not on, regardless of what has gone on.

Re new manager

A Talksport co-presenter said earlier 'The Leicester job would be a great job, really good for someone, well ran club, etc'.

One thing’s completely not debatable. Pearson had the biggest schlong of any manager.

On his FIFA coaching course they referred to him as (Sir) Hugh Schlong.

Huth helped a lot

As did the move to a back three and him finally picking Albrighton. As I said on the BSLB pod this week, it's actually incredible how good Albrighton was at contributing in important games or periods during his time here.

That great escape run he set up Vardy's winner vs Burnley after they'd just missed a penalty, set up 2 vs Newcastle and scored twice albeit those goals didn't mean much to the results.

The following seasons the most obvious contributions were his Champions League goals and assists but actually if you look at just how desperate our league position was and then look at our form that had to be near top 6 form to pull away from relegation, he was masterful. Set up our first goal in Shakespeares 1st game at home to Liverpool that was massive. His outside of the boot assist for Huth away at West Ham was ridiculous. The list goes on. The strength of character in Ranieri's first game after the summer him and his family had had with his wife's mums murder, he turned in a majestic performance of a goal and 2 assists. He was such a strong character.

So to come back around, the conversations on our great escape and the title win and just how influential Pearson was it's worth noting he'd ignored Albrighton, played Vardy out of position and had barely got a tune out of Mahrez. But it was all there under the surface ready to explode.
