If there's one thing I absolutely despise about English fans, it's describing clubs like Bournemouth or Brentford who have had success more recently as "tinpot". I suppose though it's basically a response to seeing elite English football and its clubs being turned into soulless global brands; feels better when you convince yourself your club is a bastion of tradition, history and success and those around or below you are tinpot, history-less no marks playing in bland stadiums with no atmosphere.

Sorry, but I'm getting a bit sick of this narrative that we are useless, have a Championship squad, and don't deserve to be anywhere near the Premier League.

 

Firstly, look at Sunday's team. The starting 11 all had Premier League experience before this year, excluding Mads (who will have a long Premier League career), McAteer and El Khannouss. Even the likes of Kristiansen and Soumare, have shown in patches the ability to compete in the top division before this year, and were incremental to last year's squad. Off the bench, 4 of the 5 had Premier League experience, with just Mavididi without. This is not a bunch of no-hopers.

 

Secondly, some of the results over the weekend showed we haven't been as far off the pace. Forest at home? 1-0 down, 1-1 by half time, then 3-1 down. Our result matched by Man Utd apart from 1 late goal. Getting 4 stuck past us at Brentford? Matched by Newcastle.

 

I know people seem to get a kick out of putting us down. But listening to my boss talking about Ipswich having to draft in players that couldn't get in their team in League 1, its another world from where we are. We've been in the Premier League all but 1 year in the past decade, and the year we went down we came back up easily. We are a Premier League club, despite a dodgy start, we are outside the relegation places, and the constant putting us down from out own fan base is not helping anyone.

Agreed .  Trust me...they care.  I have the misfortune of working with a forest fan, a leeds fan and a notts county fan.   Notts county fan is actually quite reasonable and will give city credit, hold a sensible conversation etc....but the other two......delusional.  Forest being 3rd is a greater achievement than our last decade due to them rising from the depths and dont forget they won a European cup before he left his dad's testes.  Tell me about 1980 again....please.  You dont tell that story nearly enough.  As for the leeds fan, we fluked the prem and fluked the championship last season apparently. They were by far the best team.  Ive tried explaining you dont get lucky over 38 or 46 games but it wont sink in!!.

80 pages, the majority in the last couple years, on a club that they dont support is so weirdly obsessive. 

 

Do Birmingham/Aston Villa, Arsenal/Spurs etc have dedicated threads to talk about each other on their forums? You see them on every Leicester related Twitter post as well, considering they dont even consider us a rivalry it's strange that they seem to be enjoying our demise so much 🤔

Even taking local rivalry out of it, Forest fans are an incredibly unlikeable bunch.

I think it's changing. 

 

Derby,  a suburb of Nottingham in all but name, have effectively become a lower league club (in terms of profile and overall brand) and the red scum have recognised that

Even if they saw us as their Nr 1 rivals it's still a bit much.

Shame really for them, this will be their best season in yrs and they wont win anythinglol

Their dream season, for which they've waited thirty years, was a disappointment and a failure for us five years ago. Because they won't finish in the top four either.
