I think Hamza sits as the holding midfielder and Ricardo returns to inverted RB. Ndidi to return to 8 as he was pre injury.

The problem with Hamza is he doesn't pass the ball forward only sideways or backward. Which is not what we need really.

To me the obvious replacement is Praet, Though his lack of game time might work against him.

There's no doubting he has the ability, He's Skillful, good on the Ball, and can see a forward Pass.

The downside is he doesn't like Tackling or mixing it.

As a wild Card option, Enzo could move Vesty into the Winks role and bring in Coady to fill the CB role.

This would give us someone who can win the Ball back and can also see a forward pass. As well as offering extra defensive cover when coming under pressure from Watford. Especially from Set pieces, Something we've been struggling with lately.

I guess we'll have to wait until Saturday to find out what Enzo decides.

I like this. Hamza will be up for it. One yellow card though and I’d bring fatawu on and drop younus more central. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Mavidi benched and fatawu or mcateer start. Looked apathetic last two games. I’d like to see cannon get some time second half and . Alves for a cameo role too. Oh and I’d start Faes instead of coady based on form.

Praet, Ndidi, Yunus – Leicester City injury latest and return dates ahead of Watford clash
Latest injury news from LeicestershireLive as table-topping Foxes begin their preparations for Championship clash with Watford at the King Power Stadium on Saturday

The imminent return of three injured players may give Enzo Maresca a selection headache for Leicester City’s Championship fixture against Watford on Saturday (3pm kick-off).

The City head coach expected Dennis Praet, Wilfred Ndidi, and Yunus Akgun to all be close to fitness after the international break. If they can prove they’re ready in training this week, they could come into contention to feature against the Hornets, where City will be looking to put back-to-back losses behind them.

Praet has been out since mid-August with a back injury, so may require more time in training to get himself up to speed. But he was back on the grass before the international break and so there will be hope he is close to being ready by the end of the week.

Ndidi and Yunus have been on the sidelines with muscle issues since the end of last month. While Maresca said they’d be back after the international fixtures, neither were able to join training in any capacity before the team broke up.

l
If all three are fit, Maresca will have some decisions to make. Ndidi has been the manager’s most regular starter alongside Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall in the advanced midfield positions, but Praet has been described by the Italian as the most suited to the role. Both would be pushing to oust Cesare Casadei, although there's a possibility that Ndidi could play in the deeper midfield role with Harry Winks suspended.

For Yunus, he gives Maresca another option out wide, with Abdul Fatawu and Stephy Mavididi starting most matches over the past few weeks. Kasey McAteer did make his first appearance in the 11 since September in the defeat at Middlesbrough though.

At the Riverside Stadium, Tom Cannon was involved in a matchday squad for the first time, and so he will be in contention for his debut against Watford. It also leaves just one player unavailable in Callum Doyle. The on-loan defender is back in the gym after knee surgery in September, but it is not expected that he will be ready to play again until the new year.

City also have a couple of promising youngsters making their comebacks. Will Alves has now played close to 90 minutes for the under-21s since recovering from an ACL tear. Sammy Braybrooke, a couple of weeks behind Alves, will be hoping to feature for the development squad soon.

It's a no from me. Vestergaard can barely run. Midfielders need to be able to get about the pitch.

I accept he's not the quickest, But he has been stepping out of defence often and even crossing the half way line at times.

As a holding midfielder he just has to support the play knowing someone is  behind him providing the last line of defence.

I now it's not a first choice option but needs must at times. With KDH and NDiddi with him I think he'd be fine.

You are familliar with winks' passing stats, right? I think it was in the LM or somewhere that only about a quarter or something of his passes are actually forward passes - it's not the natrure of the role, he's a pivot he holds the ball and releases.

Crikey this thread isn't very active. Good to see I'm not the only one who appears to have got the right old hump after 2 defeats. Barely been able to even read about them since Leeds match, let alone Middlesboro.

Time to get back on the optimistic bus. Come on you foxes!

Feels like a long time ago as well with 2 away games and a shitty International break.

Do we have anybody who can replicate what Winks can do?

It's a relief that we're on the home straight to the resumption of domestic football after the international break. Two dead rubber England games don't provide much of a fix.

I’d say KDH is about the best we have but I’d imagine it’ll be Choudhury in there.

If it's Choudhury, our ability to play out from the back will be significantly compromised. I do hope Maresca has a cunning plan to compensate for this.

There's a world of difference between being able to saunter out of defence with a the full view of the pitch and having to take passes on the half turn and having the awareness to pick out your team mates under pressure.

Yeah well said. Got to assume people wanting Vesty in there have never played football.

Kdh is probably too one footed to be receiving the ball at all angles whilst being pressed as a pivot. Hamza is probably the best option we have. It's a shame we don't still have Mendy really he'd have done all right.

Start Vards, had a fortnight off so should be fresh. Be nice to see us fly out the traps  grab a couple of early goals and be in a position to give Cannon a good 30 mins.

They had a decent result last time out, but could do with a couple of convincing wins, so 3-0 in this one and then 2-0 away to Birmingham would be nice.

...if Maresca holds to his beliefs then Vardy is going to be coming too deep to receive the ball, that just makes him ineffective, as in previous games!!!

I would suspect Cannon would be given a different remit and be asked to play higher up the pitch. With his aerial ability and nous, he could be the game changer that we need to offset our predictable approach.

We put crosses into the box where we have no one who is proficient at heading the ball, so we might not waste the attacking situations as much as we are prone to do. A striker who is inclined to gamble and run across the defender at the near post, or has the instinct to take a step back out of the defender's peripheral vision to gain an advantage. I think Cannon has Vardy's nous, I want Maresca to start him on Saturday.

Wouldnt suprise me if we see all returnees selected…

Dont take my formation has said, but I believe these players

could well be 1st choice.

Injury or doubtful questions still in training might scupper the idea.

placing Praet in the Winks role

                     Mat

        Faes   Vesty. Justin

            Ricardo   Ndidi

    Agun    KDH. Praet. Mavadidi

                   Cannon

Enzo would have 6 players from the above,

plus the rest of the squad to work with in the International break,

so Hamza might still take his place into 1st 11..

I am not a fan that is easy gobsmacked on selection,

so I trust in any Enzo reason &  selection…in this period..

If one thing I might as a naive fan question ,has been the

lack of using subs..but won’t hang him for it…..Yet..!!

Its too early to build agendas or negative vibes, his honeymoon

& cart Blanche, period he has until Easter maybe beyond, unless a complete

implosion..Weekly questions or critic is every fans right, part of forum posting, but

also the return banter of some posters who go OTT,either way…!

We are on an English Anglo-Saxon site,so hard skins sometimes needed,

nothing ever personal, always with humour..on a football forum whether a right

or wrong stance,I see all posts & response,is like banter between best mates around the post game table, where wit, bellend critic,or gratious plaudits shouldnt be seen from a know-all platform, but exchange of worries, thoughts, plaudits and well

WTF was that..?? Perspectives..:D

Decourum & SM etiquette what..?? between bestmates..!!
