At the moment the Premier League train seems to have passed, Enzo Maresca , manager of Leicester, would have wanted him last January but in view of the summer with a greater transfer budget available he seems intent on focusing on other profiles. 1

Wonder if he was needed to help get us over the line and add as support. But now we are up, in a more physical league with more money available we're able to go to higher calibre or more reliable players

Odd.
westernpark Posted 6 May 2024 Posted 6 May 2024 Still think we’ll go in for Sensi. I’m sure there is some mutual agreement that he won’t play every week and probably on reasonable wages in comparison to what we’ve been paying the likes of Soumare, Praet and Perez etc, makes sense as a back up to Winks, even just for a year.
Ric Flair Posted 6 May 2024 Author Posted 6 May 2024 Maybe another sign that Enzo won't be here next season...

Or just a sign we are now in a different place, in January we were looking in the bargain bin. He's was seen as quality on the cheap, he could have had half a season to get use to English football and maybe adapt to the PL. Now we need players who can hit the floor running in the PL. We can probably aim higher now we are actually in the PL. Sliding doors moment.... Edited 6 May 2024 by coolhandfox 4

He known what Sensi brings and he wasn't just being signed for 6 months in the Championship. It was a very concerning transfer anyway given our recent track record so I'm largely relieved but we will need a clutch of frees and/or loans in the 9+ new players we need. 2
filbertway Posted 6 May 2024 Posted 6 May 2024 I'm glad as he just has disaster written over him for me. Absolute clown show if true though. We were ready to committ to signing a player for x amount of years when we only had interest in having him for 4 months? 1

Ability wise he is probably better than any midfielder we will sign instead of him but it is his availability that was in question. 1
Finnegan Posted 6 May 2024 Posted 6 May 2024 1 hour ago, Ric Flair said: Maybe another sign that Enzo won't be here next season... Narh. We know Sensi was a flawed signing. He's a very lightweight, seriously injury prone player in his late twenties that has been inconsistent with his impact in a slower, less physical league. We never wanted him because Enzo thought he was the future, we wanted him because Enzo was so short on mezzala options he was having to play a young, tiny loan winger in midfield. He wanted reinforcements then and there. Like the article says, I'm sure if we genuinely aren't interested in Sensi anymore it probably is because we're after a better caliber of signing there. 2
TommyK Posted 6 May 2024 Posted 6 May 2024 So we wanted to sign him for 6 months football for 2 million when he was out of contract in the summer? Eh what?

As far as i know the original approach was for a Perez style loan (see out end of contract elsewhere as he wasn’t going to play anymore). Then inter looked at him extending his contract so they could get a small fee for him (this is where the 2m comes from). Seems like we still explored this but everything became more complex and there wasn’t time to get it done. I would also presume the club got itchy feet about committing to anything that wasn’t a loan. Edited 6 May 2024 by Chelmofox 1

Ahh nice one - I didn't follow it much so cheers for setting me straight If it was a choice between loan or no loan then no loan was absolutely the right decision.
