VArdy might be the GOAT but MAhrez comes a close second imho.

Flair, skill , assists and goals and some touches we will never see again.

what times...

Mahrez could have performed heart surgery with that left peg. For my money a very close second to Frank Worthington in being a pleasure to watch during my time watching City.

came on to make the same point… it’s not hard is it. Father figure who took an interest to a son who couldn’t care less.

Crazy that we had Mahrez and Vardy together for another two seasons and only had 12th and 9th and a 3 QF to show for it.

What a waste.

This is why I can't stand Puel revisionism.

Vardy, Mahrez, Ndidi and Schmeichel in their primes and we could muster up 9th in a weak league where Burnley finished 7th. He tried to phase out Vardy ff!

Tbf Puel didn't have Mahrez a full season. He did well stabilising us, because we were going down under Shakespeare, but in the end we needed a manager to push us on which Rodgers did. I'd love to have seen Mahrez in Rodgers' side, especially 19/20 when Vardy scored 23. We probably get CL with Mahrez in that team.

People questioned his loyalty but he was far too good to play for us and gave us a fair few good seasons. Best first touch in football ever and the only player to consistently get you out of your seat every game.

“Vardy should’ve gone to a big club”… nah he shouldn’t have mate.

With all due respect to Mahrez (he’s our best ever player imo), Vardy will mean more to us than Mahrez will ever mean to Man City.

In 25 years, young Man City fans won’t have a clue who Mahrez is. Whereas, for decades to come, every young kid growing up in Leicestershire will know who Vards is.

I dunno about that. Mahrez won the treble at Man City and that's the sort of thing that gives you immortal status at any club.

But even so, I doubt Mahrez would care about that. He's not a Man City fan and will likely live out his life in the middle east.

Still comfortably the best first touch I’ve ever seen, live. Astonishingly talented.

Touch and weight of pass out of this world.

The player I've enjoyed watching the most in my 50 years of supporting us.

A beautiful player

Exactly this. It was a pleasure watching him.

My favourites goals of his are the one at Man City and the one he scored against Blackpool when we got promoted

The other player I will never forget was Kante in that side. Best DM ever. Ranieri made that team click, at least for one magic year.

Les Ferdinand was pure class too, even though could only manage 20 minute cameos.

Mahrez was part of a team that won their first Champions League and a treble. 100% he will be remembered.

RE big club. Mahrez was clearly ambitious, nothing wrong with that, I do not have anything against him wanting to join Man City. We finished 12th and 9th after winning the league ffs, no wonder he wanted to move on. It might have been different if we didn't just have one really good season.

Vardy could have done the same. He could have moved on and won a whole lot more than he won. Similar to Shearer really, players that could have won more than one league title but were loyal to their club. Nothing wrong with that either.

Overall I dunno why people knock Mahrez. He was a massive part of the reason we won the top flight, can't get much better than that.

Something about that Watford away(0-1) goal for me. Critical moment of the season, tight game, ball on the edge of the box, man marked, rolls the ball into a sliver of space and crashes it into the top corner. Que deliriant celebrations. Last minute Huddersfield FK was good. Champion Prem season quickfire equaliser against Spurs 1-1, jugular vein bulging out of his neck.

Clearly an intelligent lad and a cool cat to boot. Gave us a season more than he probably could've done, although I think we went to lengths signing players like Slimani to keep him interested. Would've been great to see him on the right wing when we were flying under Rodgers but hey ho, Riyad won a Champions League and a litany of major medals.

The most skilful player I've seen play for us. I still remember that one moment of skill that put 3 Villa players on their arse. He was destined for greater things and even though he won everything with Man City, i dont think we ever saw that free spirited player, that played for us again.
