Comfortable, could have been six or seven without playing particularly well. Probably says more about the quality of the opposition. I can see why he’d like to bring in someone like Sensi. Some of the runs KDH and Daka were making, only for the ball to go backwards. Still feels very much a work in progress, but if/when we do go on to be promoted, serious work will be needed in the summer. Another 3 points closer to where we want to be.

The goal was Faes and Doyle's fault, poor marking.

Nah, it was way more than that - right from the start, they took it short and we only had mavididi (i think) covering - it was a train wreck.  Faes isn't as good as vesty playing in the middle. no one picks up the guy at the back post, even then we had chance to block it, clear it - anything.  it was all wrong, way more than just poor marking.

I’m pretty relieved we didn’t pay the 20m man city wanted in the summer. I really don’t see much between nelson and him

he could have had two more assists if we had strikers who can finish

Odd game. We seemed to just coast through most of it, and upped it when we needed to.

Most impressive thing about the game was Daka accidentally assisting two goals after an initial sublime one… he’s a bit like that one lad at school who joins in with the footie, can’t play at all, all arms and legs yet somehow manages to tackle anything and score about 100 goals a break time because balls just keep bouncing off him.

Thought Praet was dreadful, other than that everyone was fairly steady.

It was a bit like going to Tesco to do your big shop, nothing exciting, forgot a few things so had to do a mad dash to grab them, and then just manage to get the job done. Wouldn’t say it was entertaining, but it’s 3 points.

Why would we stop playing out the back if we are winning? That part of the game won’t change.

Strange night. 3 goals and a win, but poor game and largely poor performances all around. Really poor atmosphere. Probably my least favourite game of the season.

We won’t. We get away with playing out from the back in this division because the majority of sides are so poor. Doing the same thing next season I don’t think we will get away with it. I see no evidence that Maresca will change and I think that will cost us next season.

I fear you are right..

But I also think (and hope) the hierarchy have learnt from the 'odious little cretin Rodgers' tenure and won't allow another free fall to happen. A poor start, with a spell of continuous losses each week and chuck in a few cricket scores and Enzo will be gone.  ( I'm in no way wishing this to happen, I like him) But it's a results business and the club can't afford financially or desire another immediate relegation.

Could’ve and should’ve be 5 at least really comfortable.

it was dull at times, however mainly because Swansea still seemed to be playing for a draw even though they were losing.

I concur that this style of play (with these players) will lead to issues in the premier league - if we get there

However I think Enzo is fully aware that need to improve the playing squad in order to compete. To play this way, we would need 4 or 5 new starters imo

The leaving early thing puzzles me too. I just don’t get it. 82 mins people were getting up there still ended up being 14 mins left then. Makes no sense to me.

When you see how good Cannon is at actually shooting, Daka is miles off that.

I think we will have more chance of Cannon's movement improving than Daka being consistently good in front of goal.

@Ric Flair is spot on when he says a lot of Daka's problem is actually his balance.

When Daka is balanced and composed in front of goal I'd back him to finish consistently. I know people (including me) bang on about his hattrick in Russia so much it's basically a meme but in all three of those goals he was well set, ice cool, poised and just tucked them away off both feet.

Equally goals spring to mind against Legia home, Everton home and Brighton away  that are extremely similar to his goals at Spartak not to mention Forest at home, a Vardyesque back heel, where he's been well balanced.

But then he also seems to have these weird moments where he's sort of dribbling almost slightly away from goal or he's just miles off balance and swings his leg half at the ball and is having to hook it back. He's very much got an instep technique shooting and he's really accurate when he's set and it's really hideous when he's not and his general centre of gravity seems to be terrible.

By contrast, you can see why Cannon draws comparisons to Nugent. He's very much got Nugent's centre of gravity, he always seems to be balanced and always seems to be set, gives him really consistent ball control. He's not Messi but he is still pretty sharp in possession and he's got a great technique for just drilling through the ball, makes him much better with a snap shot.

End of the day, they're both excellent strikers for this level and I'm happy if either starts. I think Daka's pace gives the whole team an extra something. That's how many games so far that Daka has played and we've scored three or more? You can't keep putting that down to luck, we're consistently more productive and have consistently better output when he plays.

I stayed till the bitter end against Ipswich and left on 91 minutes yesterday. I can conform it maked no difference to getting out the car park earlier etc.

Exactly this, if we continue with these tactics next season we'll get hammered every game.

It think with Doyle if we buy peole need to realise its about what he can become rather then what he is now.

Loads of potential.

Him and the Nelson in 2 to 3 years could be stellar.

If Vesty goes in the summer, I wonder if Nelson is the plan…?

He’s clearly very good and would have enough suitors circling if we weren’t playing him…   Could be a question of play him or lose him?

I think a lot of people are confusing boring with bad....

We are an incredibly boring team to watch, we are however an incredibly good team for this league.

We never played particularly badly in any part of the game last night aside from the late goal maybe. What we did however was play in a non progressive way for large parts of the match, not bad just boring.

It will cost us next season and likely him too. I’m all for having a vision, but the great managers have flexibility and know when to change it. In general our players and squad are far superior to those in this league and so it would be the perfect time to experiment with mixing it up. I doubt Enzo will. I have grave concerns for next season, but I guess winning the Championship again the year after ain’t so bad.

We are ****ing boring once we've won a game. 3-0 up you'd like to see Enzo let the players have a bit of fun. Instead we go fully into sideways and backwards mode and it gets the crowd's back up.

We will have better ball playing centre-backs next season. There is no way he starts off with Vestergaard at CB. Faes and Justin are good enough imo.
