I can genuinely remember two highlights from his time here:

One shot hitting the bar (can't remember the game - blame my age)

Winning the ball back against Ipswich before Ayew's goal last season

He has ZERO contribution in every game he plays. How we are still starting him is mind-blowing.

Does he have any professional pride whatsoever? He's gone from being a young player who was part of a team that won Ligue 1 and supposedly had lots of promise to looking completely out of his depth against League 1 opposition. Is there no part of him that wants to prove that he is a decent player?

I watched Matty James, a player deemed not good enough for us around decade ago (injuries played a big part on fairness), playing for Wrexham on Saturday and he looked far more useful at this level than Soumare.

Sure the cross bar was in the europa league. Maybe Napoli.

There was a time he made a good run with the ball against Spurs too. Still has some people convinced that ‘theres a player in there if hes used right’.

If you watch him closely when we are in possession, he often moves closer to an opposition player, so that he is not available to receive the ball. He doesn't do this every time, but enough to make me wonder WTF his motivation for doing that is.

I just want him out this club forever. I have no idea why Marti is starting him. It is painful to watch.

Something I used to do when I was playing badly. With me it was because my confidence was so low that I didn't want the ball

honestly just get rid of him, looks like he cant be arsed, doesnt track runners enough, work rate is half arsed

1 good game in every 8/10

Infuriating thing is he picks and chooses when he tracks. Few times he's tracked through the midfield and made a great recovery tackle. Then the next minute the balls rolling past him to one of their players unmarked.

Me too but it’s that mental strength that sets great players aside and needs to be worked on and encouraged. He has the attributes and that’s what is so frustrating.

I think this is exactly it with Soumare, he can switch multiple times in one game from looking like he’s finally clicked, winning the ball aggressively and playing with pace and physicality to a lazy, passive, irresponsible liability. That’s exactly what happened last night. I guess that wild inconsistency is why he’s still with us and why we are where we are. It’s increasingly clear that the loss of Ndidi, despite his increasing flaws is a big loss. It means we are reliant on Soumare who in theory has all the attributes but has little of the mentality of a top level midfielder and Skipp who just doesn’t have the ability even at this level. We have one quality midfielder in Winks with little sign that there is going to be any additions.

Can’t fathom the bloke. Thought he’d fall into the Vestergaard, Winks or Faes bracket of looking pretty good at a lower level despite their premier league struggles.. but we’ve played a Sheff Weds in crisis and Huddersfield’s second XI and he hasn’t imposed himself on either of them. Joke of a footballer.

Me too… Hiding from the ball. I can’t quite explain it, as it wasn’t deliberate and it wasn’t completely sub conscious, it was somehow a habit that crept in when I felt out of form.

And that form was so fleeting, I could go into a game feeling great, mis-control a ball and then hide / go into my shell.

Yes good post and sums him up perfectly.

I worry Winks will go, he really doesn't look happy and a move to Brentford would suit him personally.

I'm quite worried about him defensively. You could see with the Huddersfield equaliser that he stood off the player rather than challenging. Against Sheffield Wednesday he easily beaten at the start of the move which resulted in their goal and before that had given away a needless corner. Of course he does have some good games but as you say consistency is lacking.

This is woeful. Add that his lack of defensive ability has already cost us 2 goals this season…what the hell does he actually do?

Just to make things worse, imagine all that money paid through your season ticket, merchandise, concourse etc some of which will of gone directly into his enormous pay packet lol
