I would bet that for financial reasons, the football season isn't actually finished yet, so technically he would still be on loan.

It was reported there were conditions to his loan becoming an obligation to buy, can't remember exactly what the conditions were but it was around him playing a certain amount of games and us gaining promotion. We can all be fairly certain those conditions were met.

Once "post season" becomes "pre season" then I'm fairly certain this will be announced

Weren't we ratified as a PL club the other day (hence the Vardy and Vesty contracts now being subject to PL approval) and so are now in that pre-season window?

I honestly don't know, I'm not a financial expert on all things football, but that would be my guess. Premier league approval could mean that a pre contract has been agreed and comes into force in July 1st (for example) when we officially become a premier league club and "pre season for 24/25 season" begins

I've seen reports that we've activated the clause in the loan deal for Fatawu, so I'd bet that it will be finalised when the financial year begins for the premier league, meaning it's on the books for next season

All Football contracts begin their annual cycle on 1/7 and end on 30/6.

Leicester City gained promotion on 25/4 if were a condition of promotion then if that were the only clause and so worded then the transfer would be permanent from that date.

But it’s all about the wording for instance it could be securing  promotion and LCFC having membership of the PL confirmed which would have been this week.

It could make a massive difference in accounting terms to Sporting ( they would  for accounting purposes treat all of it in their 23/24 year) and of course  paying the fee is one thing but what really would matter is the amortisation charge which from 25/4 to 30/6 (67 days) would work out something like this £15 million  divided by 5  contract years = £3 million divide that sum by 366 days  then multiply by 67 days =£550kish.

I just don’t think despite what some are saying because the more I see that it is likely to have been an option not an obligation to buy

We always had the "option" to buy as part of the loan deal

The option became an "obligation" if he played 60% of the games and/or we gained promotion.

This deal will happen, it's been reported that it has happened, I just firmly believe that from a financial point of view it's not official yet

I don’t want to say categorically you are wrong because we haven’t seen the wording which as I pointed out earlier is the key point but  I don’t think you can have  an obligation to buy in a conditional loan agreement but if you are right regarding the trigger then once he had played in 60% of the games for accounting purposes the deal was done

If we can say no to under, Doyle etc… can Abdul say no to us?how would you force him to come?

The potential permanent contract would have all been agreed within the loan + obligation. The conditions being met on the obligation would just be the start of everything automatically completing.

He can't say no because he's already said yes, though I guess in theory he could try and force a move elsewhere via an LCFC sale. All seems highly unlikely though. Far more likely it's all gonna happen and they've just not announced it yet.

Its a good question, the obligation may only be on the club, in which case I think the player could turn the club down and scupper the transfer, or the obligation may be on the club and the player.

Totally different.

They didn't trigger an obligation.

All part if the deal for the obligation would have been signed by all parties as part of the loan agreement.

Could it be that his loan contract runs to June 30th. Therfore the new deal kicks in on the 1st July?

If we had anything about us, and that classes as a new financial year for FFP reporting, you would say this would be the case. So I’m expecting it to be agreed the day before.

Surely the deal was agreed on and will be reported on the date of the loan deal confirmation last summer?

We're obligated to sign him. But that doesn't guarantee that he'll be a Leicester player come the start of the season. I wouldn't be at all surprised if there are one or two clubs that will try to tempt us into making a quick profit over the summer, including possibly Chelsea.

This would make sense. Especially as the PSR deadline is the 30th June. Signing him before that (on paper) would be just shooting ourselves in the foot.

Get off the fence and tell us how you really feel lol

Seriously though, if Enzo could only take one player with him to Chelsea I reckon it would be Fatawu. Maybe Hermanson. But I think ball playing keepers are easier to find than dynamic wingers. The only thing that may dissuade Chelsea is that they are already fairly well set for wide attackers with Palmer, Sterling, Mudryk and Madueke.

I love the guy, but he's not near the level needed to tempt Chelsea yet.

Have you seen who they’ve signed lately. Lots of guys that have potential but are still raw. He would fit in with them.

I got a feeling he’s coming in for KDH

Drinkwater was an absolute bargain for Chelsea. I absolutely agree

Yeh but they fling round money willy nilly. Makes more sense for him to be tested in the Prem with us and if the signs were promising they'd just buy him in Jan or next summer. They won't care that it would cost more then.
