Now I'm not suggesting that makes him a nice and wholesome person and I'm not defending anything he may or may not have done. But equally, let's just be clear about what he was accused of at very least. 

 

And you should be very careful what you post, to avoid any defamation lawsuits..

From a football perspective he’s absolutely the kind of player we should be looking at. A shame that out of all of the young, promising strikers out there, we’re linked to the one with this “baggage”.

Wether any of it is true or not. Do we really want a player with that baggage playing for us.

 

Also if it is all made up why did he not take legal action against the journalist.

 

That to me smacks of some truths to it or something else altogether may come out of it.

I also wanted to share this. A while back west ham were linked and had similar comments to us. But a montpellier fan stepped in to share the other side of the story.  Make of it what you will, mistakes have been made but everyone deserves a chance to be heard as accusations will always follow a player. 

 

Wahi was expelled from the Caen academy for forcing classmates to undress in the toilets at school. He was 15 and the other children were a year younger.

Romain Molina says that he also forced them to masturbate, but this is never mentioned in the minutes of the school disciplinary board.

Sources from his entourage have said that he was taking revenge on classmates who were harassing him and making fun of his dead father, and he just wanted to humiliate them. Wahi's father died when he was two years old.

There's also a story that took place in a Montpellier nightclub in 2021. A woman complained that he had hit her. His entourage said he just pushed a girl away during a nightclub dispute and she'd fallen over. That was at the end of 2021, and we haven't heard anything about the case since. We don't know whether it's been tried or not.

I never heard about the story of skipping training session without authorization.

Other of this, Montpellier fans will have nothing but positive things to say about his time at MHSC, both on and off the pitch. When he started out, you could see that he was still a child in terms of his attitude and his game, but he has made enormous progress (and in my opinion he still has a lot to improve in his game, his potentiel is immense). It was touching and pleasing to see his linear progression as a man and a player, and everybody will point out his respect for the club and the fans.

So the thread that is on fire at the moment puts this all in to perspective.

 

Who would you rather have, Elye Wahi or Jordan Ayew?

 

I don’t even think that question needs answering, it’s answered itself.

 

Just a reality check for everyone jumping on the bandwagon of negativity towards Wahi.
