I don't see the point in banning players for things like this. Should have been made to attend a course on diversity and inclusivity and find a few grand.

When players get banned it's the team/fans that suffer and I'm pretty sure Son wouldn't have wanted this.

You can fine him a few grand, which is completely inconsequential.... or ban him for 7 games which is much more consequential. I think given the offence, they have done the right thing.

It's Spurs so, never mind 😂

Sorry but why did the Argies get away with it? Enzo Fernandez and co. Not to long ago they were caught singing about Black French players and nothing happened.

Which is why I said he should be made to go on a diversity and inclusivity course. Education is often better than punishment. It was a daft throw away comment anyway, not condoning it but he's not tried to be openly racist or upset anyone. Just a stupid comment.

Because it was international duty so FA can’t do anything

Bentacur said his stuff whilst on TV in South America I thought?

Think it was still during pre season though. Which is why they can ban him. Weird situation anyway.

Money is of no issue and doesn't change the behaviour.

Agree about the course etc.

Banning him should make him see the point of making such comments that could be derogatory or offensive. It might be the team that suffers but that's precisely the point. Strong punishment as opposed to a fine which is a drop in the ocean to these players.

Similar to the David Coote ordeal, yet people want him banned from officiating again

He can go on the course as well! Other players and clubs will take notice of a seven game ban. They may set up their own courses to get ahead of the problem.

Are you telling me we've had 3 years of decisions from officials with no real training.

Explains a lot is suppose.

I imagine they've had proper training, but these refs have specifically trained for this role. I assume like linesman are trained to be lino's rather than main ref, but can do the job if needed

May be an image of football, American football and text

Out of the 20 current Premier League clubs, 13 have won an English league title in their history. 🏆
Here's a look at the last time each of them lifted the trophy:

Never understood the obsession with Newcastle, people calling them a "big club", it's nearly 100 years without winning a league title and I'm sure next year, 2025, will be 70 years since their last major honour (FA Cup).

Extra year plus option of another for Pep.

Potentially depends on how much punishment if any MC get maybe ?

No surprise here if they are looking for 100% perfection as there is never going to be that.

Particularly as apparently we use different types of ball manufacture to that used in the Euros .

Maybe it's partly a semantics thing. I can totally buy managers or owners creating a certain 'culture' in a club (or organisation) or needing to change a bad one. Man utds 90s/00s youth set up and iron fisted rule by ferguson was for me a culture thing. in my original post if Amorim had talked about changing the current terrible culture at man utd then fair enough but he doesn't he talks about identity this grandiose term meant to encapusulate the whole club without explaining what it is or how he's going to create it. It's a bit like that scene in wolf of wall street where mconaughey explains the stock market to Dicaprio 'it's not f**king real!' This modern idea of identity in football is a fugazi!

Identity is who you are.

Culture is how you go about doing it.

Tactics are the specifics on the pitch.

So under Ranieri you might say that Leicester's identity was 'plucky underdogs who are not afraid of anyone, play to their strengths, are ready to catch anyone napping and will never quit'.

The culture was one of senior players being encouraged and permitted to share their ideas, of unwaveringly focusing on the next primary objective, celebrating success when they hit milestones and a deep belief that winning was possible.

The tactics were to cede possession and keep the defence tight in a compact 4-4-2 with two experienced classic CBs running the show and a world-class, dogged heavy-pressing defensive midfielder then breaking quickly and using Mahrez and the weapon Vardy to punish teams on the counter, clocking up the most sprints in the league.

Edited to add, can anyone tell me what Steve Cooper wants our identity, culture and tactics to be yet?

It's early but we could have had a good go at answering these questions after 11 matches under Maresca...
