Nothing spectacular from him but he's outperforming Winks quite comfortably. Will need him chipping in with some goals this season

We 100% overpaid by about £10m but I think he’s solid enough and will get better as the season goes on

You need accomplished workers. Not all midfielders need to be flashy lads. You just need the right blend all Lennon, Izzet, Savage (Holy Trinity). I like Skipp.

Did we overpay though? He’s a 23yo English midfielder with 70+ Prem games, 20+ U21 games and a pretty decent 7/10 across the board skill set. Not sure you pick these players up for £10m in the current climate.

 

Will he prove a shrewd investment? Only time will tell, but so far he looks decent value and I’d say we look better when he plays.

Don’t know whether he was injured but he certainly didn’t have a good 1st half today. We lack any creativity with him and Ndidi playing as a double pivot. I’d prefer us to go back to a single number 6 pivot (Winks) with two number 8’s - Skipp becoming an option as a number 8 in competition with Ndidi, Buonanotte, El Khanouss. The options at number 8 would reflect the opposition although it would be difficult to drop Ndidi at the moment.

He’s a jack of all trades, master of none. Not great defensively, offensively or creatively. The Andy King comparisons are apt. He’s too similar to Winks to play together, surely the money was better spent complementing what we have.

Winks is way more creative and progressive than Skipp.

Andy King at least scored good goals. Skipp is a defensive workhorse type without the defensive ability.

He surprised me in his early performances but this always seemed an odd transfer for such a high fee,  especially given we didn’t have a large budget and had more pressing priorities.

How someone like Soumare is getting a game is beyond me, one decent piece of play follow by walking and watch people run pass him.

 

I thought Skipp was doing a decent job early in the season.
