It wouldn't surprise me if he has a release clause roughly that for relegation.

He obviously won't want to play second tier football.

I agree, we would make around £10m in PSR profit and it’s not a release figure that will detract buyers.

Keep and suffer the penalties we will need players like him to stage any sort of a recovery. I certainly don’t trust the club to find decent replacements even if there are any in the bargain basement bucket.

If he has a release clause and a club meets that clause then we can't keep him if he wants to go.

Don’t think it’s unrealistic to hope he gives us one season in the championship. He’s far from the finished article and wouldn’t be for any PL side next season. Unless someone throws £40m at us, I’d say keep.

Would he have joined without the clause I guess is the only explanation, other than incompetence

Might have been the case, and we figured it’s a gamble we were willing to take (breaking even in a worse case scenario) with the potential reward being he helps keep us up.

let’s be honest we know the higher ups aren’t exactly world class negotiators so this is very possible.

We would be making barely anything if we sold him for that

Possible actually nothing (maybe even a loss) if Genk have a sell on clause in that as well (which I would not be surprised if they do)

Ridiculous

Works out around £22.1m, he current has around £15.75m on the books so a profit of around £6.35m. Sigh.

If that's true then his sale will not be much use for funding any potential PSR shortfall or generate serious funds for promotion.

I'd pitch a realistic ask of £30-35m so not massively more but with a sell on or add ons. £23m is utter muck though.

No wonder the likes of Evans, Nelson etc are being linked away too....

I’ve posted it in the what do we need transfer thread, but we’ve got hardly any profitable assets for PSR. Wilf, Hermansen and McAteer likely going to be marketed by the club.

I ****ing hate every single thing about this club, rotten from top to bottom. If that is true, I am well and truly done. What is the point in any of it.

this club is nothing short of a farce

Nah, this can’t be right.

Best in the business Jon Rudkin wouldn’t do something like this.

According to Moroccan World News:

The 20-year-old put out a strong display, notching an assist for Jamie Vardy’s opener and earning the highest match rating of 8.0, according to Sofascore

According to Fichajes and Caughtoffside, Arsenal are reportedly lining up a $35m summer move, with Fulham, Wolves, Newcastle and Aston Villa all sniffing about. Sources say Bundesliga and Serie A clubs are also circling, but El Khannous may favor staying in the Premier League

I feel like info on a €26m fee was probably his agent twerking him about.

$35m is €31m so that  is probably the starting point for us to enter into negotiations..

40 mill??? You serious??? Noone is giving us 40 mil... 20 maybe 25 max, and I feel that's probably 5 mil more than what we get

Like Kante you cannot sign these talents and expect them to be locked in for years.  They will just stay and wait for their big club opportunity.  We are a stepping stone for most on the up and we have to accept that.  Suck it up boys.

I agree. But why would we sell for £25m when his value is only going to increase with more experience?

If we didn't stay up he was always going to leave, If we sell him for some profit(might be not be massive) it will have been a good signing.

Good luck to him, he has worked hard and got better, looked decent in a very poor side.

I am not going to criticise the club too much on this one, this lad is a real talent and given at the time of signing we were staring down the barrel of a points deduction and it was always going to be a relegation battle so not surprised BEK’s representatives negotiated a sensible release clause that both parties gain from.
