That’s what should happen but who takes Vestergaard? - he’s marooned here unless we’ve negotiated a massive drop in salary when we are relegated, with the numpties in charge we have probably given him a pay rise in year 2 of his new contract. Faes we may be able to shift on for a very small book value profit as he probably won’t be on quite as ridiculous a wedge as many others.

Very true unfortunately. If you're actually there, you must fully understand how bad it is. Any young player with any common sense is probably looking at their best move to progress their career elsewhere because to just hang around and let this lot look after you only screams stagnation.

Or they see it as an opportunity to break into the 1st team a gateway to show their talent

I'm not sure Nelson would bring much in. He's a young CB who has had one good season in a relegation threatened Championship team. It would make much more sense to tie him to a decently paid three year contract with a fvck-off release clause.

I’ve seen Nelson a few times for Oxford this season, both before and after his injury. He does look very assured on the ball,  can play a pass and has good positioning. But he doesn’t seem anything special in the air and doesn’t have a particular physical presence. All in all a younger version of Vestergaard. He’s good but perhaps not quite as good as people are hoping I’m afraid.

He's 21, he had a lot of bulking up and strengthening work to do, he can improve he's physicality.

Queen Victoria is better than Vestergaard, so this is an absurd statement.

You can’t criticise a LCFC Academy player on here 😂

I think Nelson will be a good player for us the lad looks like he could have it all.

Hate to say it but if he and any of our other highly-coveted Academy players have got any sense they'll be off like a shot to a more professionally-run club.

We need to create a clear pathway into first team football for the academy lads- it's the only way we will be able to get them to stay.

But that's the problem, they don't get a chance do they apart from the odd few minutes cameo by a manager under pressure.

You can criticise if it's valid, but to compare him to Vesty 😆

Two interesting posts. I agree with andy peake in post as far as Vestergaard comparison; is there a comparison apart from how different they ar?. As you say he has good positional sense, play a pass (looking to move forward)  but also will move forward with the ball when situation allows. I think he will continue to improve next season in a better team than Oxford, and no doubt his physical presence will increase. However, good positional play is far more important., and difficult to coach into a player. Alongside a player like Souttar we could have a decent centre back partnership next season. It's a pity he got injured, but he has come back the same player with consistently good performances.

Come with experience, if you can learn from making errors.

What does an astronaut know about CB’s?

People talking we didn’t see Nelson play very well in a handful of games for last season against Championship opposition for us last season

Agreed, Enzo should have used him more, 208 minutes was never enough.

He’s going to be a nailed on starter next season . And that’s great news because it means we can shift more of the rot
