Has to start. He’s clearly a better player than Mavididi and with his age he’s got so much scope for improvement, the more exposure the better at this point.

Suspect these two will be rotating all season, with the ideal outcome that Monga's time is increased as the season progresses. Of course there is injuries too!

He's more than ready, but I think it's important to remember he's so young.

There going to be times he needs to start and tines he needs to come on.

Really want him, Alves, Page, Nelson and Aluko to start at Huddersfield.

Be nice for him to get a goal or assist ASAP.

Agreed. I like players like this to not always start games, Fatawu included. Rotating them allows them opportunities to come on in games and be devastating.

I'm concerned about Alves, if we aren't going to use him then get him on loan again.

If Nelson doesn't get regular gametime as well then it's unforgivable.

From pre match stuff looks like alves and slump were in the pre squad but didn’t make the bench, so hopefully alves gets game time soon to show us what he’s got.

Nelson being given the number 4 suggests we intend to use him!

Spoilt with the likes of Monga & Fatawu...even Mavididi, albeit less so...

Really makes you notice how league 2 the likes of McAteer are. Just completely lost with the ball at his feet.

I think he has to fight his way in, he need to goals and assists, I hope he plays on Wednesday, it down to him now.

Nelson had a niggle pre-season, think his on catch up, I think over time he force his way in and it become him an 1 other, not convinced by Okoli (I'd be looking to sell if we can get out money back).

I think we see more of both as the season goes on.

Who's slump?

It irks me that people are so quick already to write off Stephy despite us seeing what he's capable of in this league. I don't feel he got the ball nearly enough yesterday and was also often shielded out from being able to produce. Monga naturally looked greater when the game was stretched and Weds had 10 men.

id rather have McAteer in Soumare place, can not be any worse

The 3 wingers make or break this year - no way 2 could play every game - strongest part of our team - all 3 are dangerous- starting 2 of the 3 and having the other to come on second half every game alternating will be huge for us - mcateer being a 4th option for some more legs ain’t that bad either - monga will start 20 games this year easily and I’m backing all 3 of them to get 10 plus goals - they have to for us to have a good year

The thing that had me excited for the season was just how good he looked pre season along with Nelson and the emphasis on the young lads breaking through…. As soon as I seen the team line up drop the realisation soon hit that we’d been duped yet again and we were on for another season of overpaid dross getting the nod over the young lads we should be giving every opportunity to establish themselves as mainstays in the team…. It’s game one though so fingers crossed come the end of the window that’s exactly what happens

According to some ***** on here, numbers mean nothing.

4 was available, no one else wanted it, Nelson is a defender.

Same with Ayew and no.9

Partly agree. But we saw in games last season and the season before that if he isn't in the game from the first moments, he does find it harder. When he's on it, he's unplayable. But if he struggles in the first moments it seems harder for him to get in the game.

I thought he was fine yesterday and will get between 10-15 goals and assists combined. It's just great that we have options in that attacking position now, on both sides.

I think of you played Monga from the start Mav would look top tier if he came on at 70 mins.

I think they are both class but Mavididi hasn't suddenly become a placeholder in this league. We will need them both. So there's no point in arguing over starting position after the 1st game.

I would rather have Daka in Soumares place but is not going to happen - players don’t just move position without a good reason and McAteer has less ability than BS imo - both are rubbish!!

I would still start Mavididi for the time being in the league, but have Monga come on most games around the 60th minute mark .
He is seriously good, just needs to develop an end product and what an asset.

His end product is no worse than Mav or McAteer at the moment. :dunno:
