What is your nickname and why?

What is the best nickname you've ever heard and why?

If you could choose your own nickname (you can't, I've tried) what would it be and why?

Met a guy on a training course many years ago, introduced himself as Chegg.

Turned out his real name was Scott.

Also used to be a regular in one of the pubs I ran called Stuart Little. He was known as mouse.

Someone I know was called Asda because his surname was George and he always shopped at Asda.

When I was at secondary school there was a kid called Andrew Ball. When the register was called he was first and the teacher called out "A. Ball"?

He became known as Hitler for all the time at that school.

Hate to say it but at school there was a lad who didn't have a kidney and his nickname was 'Fray Bentos'. Kids can be cruel. 🫣

Did he have the other kidney?

There's nickname in that somewhere.

I used to play football with a guy everyone called Tampon - he was always injured. He was in the side for 1 week and out for 3.

'Captain Tampon' was Bryan Robson's nickname back in the day..

I call one of our mates consonants as his surname is entirely consonants ( I know. I’m a hoot at parties ). Over the years this has evolved a number of times so it now has several branches but my favourite is that he’s known as ‘pisspants’ or ‘puddles’ because a drunk woman in the local once misheard the nickname as ‘incontinent’. Another friend has always been known as ‘Sickers’ or ‘Sycamore’. We have no idea why. Neither does he. It might be he’s embarrassed by it but he claims not to know and so I like to imagine it involves him being sick somewhere ridiculous. Perhaps during a christening.

I once worked in a place where there was someone who sat in his little cubby hole of a personal office reading the Daily Telegraph all day. He came out from time to time to poke his nose into someone else's work before disappearing back into his hole with a cup of tea. A new girl started work in an adjacent office and she asked who kept some kind of an official register. I knew this was one of the official responsibilities of the Telegraph reader so I said you need to go into the next office and ask for Mr Twitmarsh. She thought that really was his name. A minute later everyone in the other office burst out laughing when she went in and asked who Mr Twitmarsh was. 'Fraid to say, Telegraph reader was stuck with being Twitmarsh, probably until he retired.

That place doesn't exist any more and probably there isn't anywhere else like that on this planet.

Lad at school some 40 years ago last name was Fletcher.

We called him Twang.

Not that amusing to most, but as he had violent tendencies and would go down the corridor punching randomly it was most hilarious.

we obviously had to pretend we were firing a bow aswell.
