It's that time of year again...

For the first time ever, we're going out for it.

The youngest two kids are going on holiday, so me, the Mrs, the eldest and the Mother-in-law are off out for lunch.

All I need to worry about is choosing between Turkey, Beef Wellington or a rack of lamb. The lamb is currently winning.

Might have to sneak in a pre-prepared tub of red cabbage though, am I right @FoxesDeb?

What's everyone else doing?

Daughter says she hates it, i couldn't give a toss about a glorified Sunday chicken, so we have agreed to scrap it.

We'll have a smoked salmon salad with prawns and bread and dips.

It wouldn't be the same without it!

Debating about driving down to Florida as I am off for two weeks. Gotta figure that out soon lol.

If not, either a curry feast or something more simple like a honey ham with typical veges and of course too much dessert.

How long would the drive be?

Will probably be in Bulgaria and I'm hoping we can go out to my girlfriend's family place in the country and have a hog roast (no sniggering please)

I’ve just booked into a hotel in Hinckley, of all places, for the festive period. Ffs.
Hopefully not as grim as it sounds, but my hopes aren’t high.

Spending Christmas with about 25 family members, and thankfully not hosting this year.

(reckon we could dip out for a sneaky 9 holes  @tom27111 and @Izzy ? - I’ll be sick of my lot and ready for it by about 1pm)!

It's about  2300km+ (1400+ miles) one way depending on  where you go . Straight drive with no stop is like 21 hours. Depends if US customs wants to anal probe you and I always am voluntold for that (jokes).

I have never done it but, the wife did with her family when she was younger.  My brother inlaw does it every March. Usually you stop off half way and stay the night in like north/south Carolina areas.

It is cheaper to drive but I despise it. Wife is telling me it's way cheaper than to fly and rent etc (which it is 100%) but you waste 3 days in travel alone there and back.

I have 2 weeks off at xmas though amd normally never do so am debating it. The other option is to fly to the Caribbean but it can be expensive at xmas.

When you live in a country the size of Canada  it's not really for most Canadians.

I have done the 7 or 8 hour drives to Chicago, NY etc no problem.  Easy peasy but I do agree Florida is a bit far.  Flying isn't cheap though. 1 ticket would be more expensive then gas there and back likely lol. I got to buy 4 tickets! Then renting a car etc.
