Don't know Brad either but used to know his Brother Elliott quite well used to sell programmes on match days .Some on here may remember his dad John  Varnam used to be a well known local ref for many years think he was also involved with Leicester united youth team at one stage. They lived around 5 minutes from me around the corner from Knighton Park

Whether you liked his style or not, Brad has been synonymous with the club for decades now.

 

My early memories of going to games include Brads voice announcing goals. 
 

For such a longstanding employee to be dropped so frivolously is both dangerous and disappointing.

It's not Brad's fault that he asked the question that basically everyone wanted to ask and Vardy's response wasn't Brad's fault. I completely agree him being dropped for the answers he got wasn't right in my opinion.

The previous announcers voice always used to break whilst announcing the line up in the last couple of years, would throw him right off his stride when trying to add the oomph to calling out the 11. He often went pre-pubescent boy when pronouncing "Albrighton" and he would then immediately go down 2 octaves to Barry White level when announcing the rest of the side. 

 

Completely inane, but stuck with me.

Was just scrolling YouTube, and saw this podcast which was just uploaded with Bradley Varnam, the old announcer. Watched first 5 mins and it looked decent- thought I’d post the link here.

This looks to have some really interesting Leicester content, not seen it all yet but the bit about the Filbert St announcer’s position and the title parade were fascinating, never really thought about it from that perspective, seems a decent guy

He announces subs like the dull priest on Father Ted. Liven the fck up. It's a dream job, at least sound interested.

He did sound different, a bit more enthusiastic, the bloke doing the Chelsea game sounded like he was reading the death notices.

Had not given this much thought but Tuesday it struck me how bad this announcer is. His team introduction was just flat as if he cannot be bothered. Surely somebody better could be found. I almost wonder if anyone takes the time to monitor clarity around the ground because it seems very poor. That cannot be the infrastructure as that was in place for previous people.

I thought the guy on Tuesday was the OG one? Although his voice couldn't seem to handle it. 

 

The one that did Chelsea (and other games) was shocking.

Excellent podcast.   Well worth listening to.   Once started, couldn't stop ... had to listen to all 57 minutes!

He was out in Florida doing the mosconi cup which is why he wasn’t there this week. Gets quite a lot of decent gigs. But yeah, don’t rate him
