Or am I kidding myself? Edit: would be very happy with the Return of the Slab too, but he's on mega wages isn't he? Correct. He and KDH didn’t want to leave. Chilwell, Fofana and Maguire on the other hand… 2

Popular Post kingfox Posted 5 December 2024 Popular Post Posted 5 December 2024 Wanted him in the summer, but even more so now Ruud is in charge, a signing that would make a lot of sense in a number of ways. Crystal Palace have been linked with him, but he should be one of our top priorities… 5

What I would say is any big investment in a young defender should be first considered whether it stunts Ben Nelson's development, I think Nelson isn't far off being ready to step up to the Prem. 5

Good thing about Van den Berg is he can play RCB or slot into Justin’s current role as a RB/RCB(Where ideally a new signing is needed). Ruud says he wants us to be better and more comfortable in possession, Van den Berg is one of the better defenders for playing out from the back in the Championship. Would probably cost the most of any January signing we’d make, but his ceiling is high, plus he snapped up numerous Player of the Season awards at Boro last season. Gerrimin Ric, GERRIMIN! 1

The Horse's Mouth Posted 6 December 2024 Posted 6 December 2024 We need a defender over anything, history repeats itself we need a huth 2
Popular Post Jazzy_Jeff Posted 6 December 2024 Popular Post Posted 6 December 2024 Following RVN’s comments about Daka I don’t see us going in for another striker in Jan. I think he’ll go with Patson, Vardy and Ayew as our 3 options up top with Edouard being sent back to Palace. That leaves us with RB, CB and left wing as our priorities. We have been linked with a couple of RBs already and can see us signing one on a permanent with Ricardo being the other option when fit. This would leave VK and JJ as LB moving into a 3 when in possession in his system CB is a must. I think a loan is most sensible option here. I would be looking at Tosin, Maguire, Mings or possibly Dier if any are available. All better than what we have. There is the lad who is out of contract at PSV which RVN must have his eye on. Also Nelson to come back in the summer. The LW dream would be the return of Barnes. If Newcastle want rid they may accept around £25m to get him off the books. Failing that I can see Ruud looking around Europe as can’t see any value apart from Barnes in England. 8
Popular Post moore_94 Posted 6 December 2024 Popular Post Posted 6 December 2024 Able to do transfer business? “We had a conversation about that in London before I signed. We spoke about that, the winter window, and also towards the summer. We also said that there’s no rush to do things. The squad there is now is getting opportunities to prove themselves over this month. There’s time after that to make a good assessment, when I’ve seen the players with my own eyes.” Will there be funds there? “Yes.” 1 4

LVFox Posted 6 December 2024 Posted 6 December 2024 I wonder if we look at Tajon Buchanon, we looked at him when he was at Brugge and he barely gets a sniff at Inter. A loan could cover Fatawu's absence
JimJams Posted 6 December 2024 Posted 6 December 2024 What kind of player is he cos stats wise he looked ass in Belgium if you're talking about a winger replacement.
coolhandfox Posted 7 December 2024 Posted 7 December 2024 (edited) Think our requirement could change, Ruud gets a tune out of a number of players we may not need as crazy a January. A right back and a winger that can play left and right side would be the minimum. I'd he can a tune out of Daka we could possibly wait on the forward. Same a CB if he can get a decent partnership of two of Coady, Vestergaard, Faes and Okoli. Hopefully 3 in, 2 permanent and another loan. Edited 7 December 2024 by coolhandfox

JimmyC74 Posted 8 December 2024 Posted 8 December 2024 Centre back with pace and inverted right back.
kingfox Posted 8 December 2024 Posted 8 December 2024 RB/RCB - Someone who’s better with the ball than JJ CB - Probably someone on loan RW/LW - A 1 vs 1 pace merchant Then we’re good to go imo. 1
frany104 Posted 8 December 2024 Posted 8 December 2024 Keep nicking some points and hopefully by Jan we will be an attractive proposition. we’re desperate for a winger or two, another striker, rb and cb. been happy with Coady and Vestergaard past two games though so focus on the wingers. 1

BEK can cover CAM or LW, Facundo can cover CAM or RW but we don't really have a third option up to their quality. Mavididi isn't really delivering, Fatawu is out very long term, Ayew and BDCR should only be considered cover. The biggest priority we have currently is bringing in an actual attacking wide forward / winger who is that as their main position. IF that player is a right sided player and BEK is going to keep cutting in off the left then our next biggest priority is an attacking left back. A lot of defending is about coaching, organisation and structure. I think we have the defensive players at the club for Ruud to coach a team that can stay in the league. But we are going to continue to struggle to score goals if we don't get a bit more quality and threat in the final third. Defenders and strikers would improve the squad - but a LB and "attacking midfielder" or just simply a great LW would drastically improve our 11 immediately. #comehomeHarvey 3
