Based on what?

Based on his work at PSV in their academy/reserve side and then getting them in a position to win 2 trophies before he left and then they went on to win the league the following season. It's underrated and probably why we'd be in with a chance of getting him.

The sort of high risk high reward scenario. He's in my top three.

Potter is my favourite of the candidates likely to be on the lcfc short list.

I don't mind an inexperienced but promising coach but something really weird went on between Ruud, PSV and his squad there and I'm super uncomfortable about him coming here with that hanging over him.

Corberan has had a stinker this year and Moyes is just a short termist solution the same as Cooper, albeit a better one.

Potter isn't as good as the managers Brighton replaced him with but we're not in the position Brighton are and it's Potter that helped get them there. Bringing in a head coach from a club like Brighton or Brentford had the benefits that bringing in Enzo did, he's just been around a well run institution and that's probably good for us.

Yes, Potter's Brighton struggled for goals at times but it also had fairly poor finishers and if he can engineer the same level of chance creation here then Vardy will eat well.

None of them are perfect choices, though probably all better than Cooper.

Just to have a manager with a clear playing philosophy will be very welcome, Potter is a fairly reputable name and the players you would imagine would enjoy playing under him.

The fact he is “stunned” sums up just how far out of his depth he was. I’m stunned that he is stunned. Anyone could see that he’s under pressure, fans chanting for him to “sort it out”, a 20% win rate, some of the most awful football most of us have seen since Holloway, and he’s “stunned” because he thinks 2 wins in 12 and 1 point above relegation has him safe in the job.

If he’s seriously stunned by this, hes living in his own world.

Well l have to say that I'm a bit stunned that he was sacked now, not because he was poor but rather that our feet of clay owner actually DID something!

Could it be that he has actually learned his lesson after his fatal delaying with the fraud?

Probably a bit of a stretch.

The sacking is the easy bit mind, it's the recruitment that worries me now cos we all know who's gonna be involved in that!

Those links to HSV Hamburg for Ruud, I think he would take the job even though they are in the Bundesliga 2, they still average 50K crowds there.

Still not got a pot to piss in though. Incredibly hard role

Think the biggest question on Potter is if we’ll get Tracksuit Potter or Roll Neck Sweater Potter. Always like a tracksuit manager and not sure his Chelsea glow up did him any favours. Time will tell!

Father in law is a West Ham season ticket holder, and he's hoping for my sake it isn't Moyes. Dull as dishwater apparently.

But it's a cheap and easy appointment so King Power will be all over him.

Moyes is the only favourite that I don’t want. So you just know I’ll be him.

Fair enough just think he'd be a huge risk. Totally different managing PSV who would have already had a decent squad and are one of the top 3 teams in the Dutch league than managing us in a relegation battle where we need to start winning games immediately.

We are now rudderless

If we’ve sacked cooper without having someone ready to come in then we are completely incompetent. As poor as cooper (and his coaches) were, he is still better being employed to prepare us for a PL game at Brentford in five days time than sitting at home.

All this speculation in the media should be nonsense - we should have our man ready to be announced

Maybe we have!

Was quite possibly one of the weirdest things i'd ever witnessed in football.

Went from looking like a divorced PE teacher who has probably thought about some questionable student relations.... to Investment banker millionaire within a week lol

Agreed, managing is all fun and games… until you’ve had to work with Wout Faes and Patson Daka

They didn't have a great squad and they sold Madueke and Gakpo from under him after convincing him to become the head coach when he told them he felt he wasn't ready.

You can understand why he left.

But he left with one or two games to go in the season, just walked out having a tantrum. Who does that.

That's after he'd lost most of the dressing room and even a lot of the coaching staff. The fans were largely split on him because his team were just reliant on counter attacking or relying on the likes of Simons to just win him games which they could do against the big clubs but anyone they had to break down he was completely clueless against and his team selections were often seriously controversial, leaving their better players out inexplicably.

All just sounds a bit too familiar to me. Part Cooper, part Ole.

He absolutely could turn out to be a brilliant coach but whoever gives him the job next will be taking a massive gamble, a much bigger one than we took on Enzo, especially in our current position.

Potter was clearly holding out for the England job and the FA either didn't interview him or went with Tuchel. I don't think he is the right person for the job, but in all honesty I don't know who is. An attacking manager will maybe make enteratining football but our issues are at the back and it just won't work.

Same with Ruud. Moyes maybe, but is he in the market any more?

I think it will be one of those moments where we sit and name all the usual on the merry go round and then we end up with someone from the French 2nd division.

Wonder how long Potter can stay out of a job before he is considered to be out of the game too long

Very pleasant surprise I was fully expecting he would be here until March with us in the relegation zone and looking for a firefighter, I have very little faith in this lot getting the appointment right, but I’m not sure it could be much worse than continuing with this decline!

Don’t think that will happen, just that the level at which he could come back to will continue to decline. Even if he didn’t take a job for 10 years a championship team would take him on.

"Said to have been" is very different to "Steve Cooper said", it's journo made up rubbish.

I wouldn't say Corberan is having a stinker, even though they have fallen away a bit after their fast start. WBA have an absolutely bang average squad, and I think that's still not taken into account sometimes with WBA given they are one of the bigger names in the division. Id be happy enough with him still.

It's not going to happen but it would be so interesting to have a female manager.  Hannah Dingley was caretaker at Forest Green Rovers, maybe she'd enjoy the challenge.  I think the novelty and the different approach would be an advantage.

Personally I'd be happy taking RVN - after he'd served his apprenticeship at a couple more lower league clubs.

But that will never happen.

I know that we are always a potential stepping stone, but with RVN it's always going to feel so overt he may as well have "waiting for united to call" written on his back!

Now is not the time to take a punt on a rookie, reportedly abrasive and divisive manager imao.

Potter or Moyes are already signed I'd guess.
