No matter what happens this season I'm certainly more excited under RVN management than the dullness of Steve Coopers regime of excuses

Hopefully @Bluearmyfox28 or @StriderHiryu can add a bit more insight, but my main takeaways from the personnel he used, I’m guessing…

 

Mwene or Teze were used as a RB who’d drop into a back three when in possession. 
Van Aanholt was used as an attacking LB. 

Guus Till was often used as an 8/10. 
Bakayoko or El Ghazi were used as the wingers to provide width. 
Simons was used as a LW who had the capabilities of drifting in field as a 10.

He adjusted his tactics at PSV based on who he had available. To give him credit, he changed his system and was still effective when Gakpo and Madueke were sold. In general he liked to allow Xavi Simmons to drift inside and have van Aanholt join him, but also had games where he inverted a full back into a CDM role. I'm not going to profress to be an expert on RVN, it will be a learning experience for us all, but the more I looked into him, the more excited I got for him. I think he's got a good ideology, but is also routed in reality to avoid being humbled by playing in too expansive a manner.

Possibly want to announce full staff all at once, it all felt a bit disjointed in the summer with announcing cooper and then bringing people in piece by piece.


If we're negotiating for some people to be released from their Man Utd contracts it might be proving tricky, especially with them in a handover period.

 

There may well be some wheeling and dealing being done too, given Top will likely know the ones we are after were aboutt o be sacked anyway to make way for amorin team

Press conference today was cancelled so I imagine it will be announced later today or tomorrow. You would have hoped Ruud would have spoken to the players.

I’m starting to see why they let Cooper have Chelsea. 
 

Would’ve done a new manager no good taking charge for that game, half the squad were on international duty during the break.
 

RvN can hopefully galvanise the squad to get enough to stay up… it won’t take too many results and he might just get enough.

I’m wondering if  they’ll join up the announcement with the pre match presser ???  Although we  do have form for releasing stuff in the early evening. The players will presumably travel down tomorrow late morning to London. 


im hoping that he has been spending his time today at training with the players and preparing for West Ham (possibly Brentford).  So not time to do the website/media interviews etc which is why the announcement is delayed.
