“Jelle ten Rouwelaar is the new assistant of Ruud van Nistelrooy at Leicester City. After Burnley, Ajax and Manchester United his fourth employer in half a year. As a player he was a bit more home-bound 😄 .”

Wonder who he was on the phone to then, definitely someone in line for the assistant role watching from a hotel room without a visa?

RVN pre-game interview was great. Shows he knows what he is doing, where he wants to get to but is also flexible enough to work with the existing group of players and coach staff. Some managers can only work with players and staff of his own choosing and are so stubborn they cannot work well with others. Rudd on the other hands seems smart and adaptable enough to be able to see strengths and weaknesses of each and use them in the best way within his vision.

Very early days but I am increasingly excited about what RVN can do over the coming months.

I find it slightly Rude that you spell Ruud as Rudd...

Loved it how he said he was looking forward to learning from Kingy about the club.

Great leadership not putting himself on a pedestal.

He seems so intelligent.

..also have you got funds to spend in January? He thought for a moment and then a cheeky smile and a simple "yes"

He could have gone down the diplomatic route of keeping cards close to his chest to keep pressure off the board or for better negotiating with clubs if he'd made out we're skint.

Instead he thought and it came across to me as "I'm saying yes now publicly because you told me that in London so you better stick to your word"

Also the single "yes" so much more powerful than some waffle.

We have invested heavily in players who past managers have been unable to get a consistent tune out of.

If Ruud can get a consistently get a tune out of Kristiansen, Daka and Soumare that would be massive.

It so important we develop and grow players, we need those 3 and El Khannouss, Fatawu to become sort after PL performers.

Okay, I admit I have been slightly out of action since early last year, and seriously have no idea about the youth setup (I used to follow it quite closely, I promise.)

Do we have anyone in the current youth team that might be on the verge of stepping up?

We have a decent crop, must are excited about Alves, Nelson, Braybrooke, Monga and Evans.

Nelson and Alves are probably the closest to being ready.

Nelson and Alves were in the picture before my stroke. Braybrooke I sorta remember. Monga and Evans are new to me - I will look them up. Thanks!

What about Golding?

Got to completely ignore the transfer fee and hype around the deal.

Did I remember reading on here he might have a bit of an attitude? If so, he'll need to get rid of that.

He'll also need a Barnes style successful loan in the Championship before he can be considered progressing with us. I'd say that goes for everyone.

I hate to say it, I'm really surprised Braybrooke hasn't kicked on at Dundee and I'm starting to doubt my blinded faith in his ability.

I think he needs to be recalled ASAP and sent out somewhere else.

As for Alves, he is desperate for a loan. Somewhere like Birmingham where he could be a focal point in a league he'd dominate. Next season perhaps QPR, Portsmouth or Hull where he could go nuclear in League One.

These players all need minutes in competivie football now.

Intelligent and emotionally intelligent too. It seems early to be giving him praise but I’ve been very impressed with his initial decisions and his willingness to understand the club - although I’d be intrigued to know what sense he got out Birchy

Yeah that’s the second time he’s gone for some dinner in Leicestershire. Big tick of the box for me that

He’s just a walk in bradgate park, stroll at foxton locks and Fosse park shop theft away from completing the Leicestershire set.

Snidey article in ST suggesting he chickened out of taking charge at Brentford because he knew we’d lose and didn’t want to start with a defeat

Id say that was smart..

Even if true, could be a masterstroke in the long run. After all, football is almost entirely based on confidence and momentum so not having a negative start could make a huge difference in the long run.
