At least Puel was interested in bringing some academy players into the first team. RvN has nothing to lose now and he's still sticking with this group of dossers. I'm not saying field all of the u23s but why not have a couple on the bench and givevthem minutes and plan for the future?

I appreciate that as a fan who watches every week, supporters have a unique perspective of what’s going wrong at their club, but from my perspective Cooper was pretty low down the list of issues. Again, I appreciate many fans who have to watch every week may have found the football turgid, but given Leicester’s squad and financial limitations, most neutrals thought he was doing okay. 
 

It’s clear the owners picked the wrong man, and it’s clear you’re going down. 
 

In my opinion, the sensible and pragmatic thing for Leicester to do is thoroughly consider a managerial shortlist in the coming weeks, forgoing reputations and “exciting” names, and seek to bring in a head coach/manager to rebuild the squad during the summer, ready for what will be a gruelling Championship campaign.

 

I have real concerns that due to the aforementioned existing financial issues, a summer root and branch rebuild will be next to impossible, so in my view you will need to hire an experienced, pragmatic manager with the ability to get the most out of limited players and drive their ambition to return to the Premier League.

 

RVN has to go ASAP, to give time for the stench to dissipate, I fear for you that the longer he stays, the more possible a double drop becomes. 
 

 

The appointment of RVN doesn't actually mean Cooper was the right manager.  He was also awful, and the players didn't like him at all.  There was zero point continuing with him.  The fact they got the next appointment so wrong doesn't change that fact.

I agree that Cooper was probably the wrong appointment and, due to losing both fanbase and dressing room, had to go. But his failing because these players didn't like him, as you put it, is a more damning reflection on them than it is on him. Because when they did find a manager that they actually could get along with, having been relegated with another previously, he turned out to be a hopeless incompetent. And that is clearly all they warrant. We had a choice in November as to whether we further massaged egos or seriously demanded more of these jokers, and we chose to massage the egos.

 

Steve Cooper has actually kept a side up at this level, which is more than can be said for, say, Wout Faes.

 

I'm far, far from any campaign to recognise the martyrdom of Cooper, but clearly the switching of him for Ruud looks like a mistake of absurd proportions. I don't know a single fan of any other club who doesn't think that our players, board and fans are a little bit daft, to say the least, for lauding it.

Its two separate decisions though; they could have replaced Cooper with an actual football manager, but they didn't.  The sacking of Cooper required the hiring of a new manager, but it did not have to be Ruud.

possible managers really would be someone like Dyche or Gary O’Neil.

Disagree, genuinely think we need a culture setter, an experienced head to reset the tone of the club. I think Enzo was able to do that partially but we all saw the drop in the back half once we got figured out. 
 

Nigel would never do it, but I am thinking of someone like him, to get his tentacles everywhere.

 

We need a figurehead to steer the ship. I don’t think a Carrick, a Rosenior, could do that.

The change in formation has done nothing we look devoid of ideas, he has to go today and the long term planning of how we will operate as a championship club, which players will be here and how we build competitive squad focused largely on our academy has to begin in earnest today.

I don’t think these managers exist anymore outside of maybe Pep and Klopp. They work as part of a bigger team (DOF, Recruitment etc) and so the manager generally doesn’t have the sway that Pearson had. 
 

I take the point though - we need someone who has a clear set of principles and standards and has the character / personality to enforce it.

How is he still in a job? Double firing needs to happen. Top needs to grow some balls. Fire both Rudkin and Ruud today. This is simply unacceptable and in any other club or company the management would have gone. The ship has sank to marina trench levels. Top either needs to get a grip to sell to someone who can.
